Left my car in town after a couple of beers and returned to find my wing mirror hanging by the wire.

BMW don't like spring action, mso it's snapped clean off - no chance in repairing. Plus the scrotes who did it made off with the colour coded backing plate.

So BMW want 300 and eBay looks like 160 second hand, even then it's getting the one with the right loom!

Any suggestions? Ive tried eBay, parts gateway and Fabdirect frown

E46 in the Msport trim, so finding it hard for a direct replacement. Can the 8 wire be retrofitted to a 6 wire? Mine doesn't auto fold.

BMW for some reason have always been an absolute rip off when it comes to wing mirrors. I remember many moons ago when I had my E36, some scrotes decided to relieve me of my wing mirror. Apparently thry were all the rage back then. Result was a lightening of my wallet the tune of nearly £400 IIRC and this was back when £400 was a lot of money.

I'd suggest doing a google search for your nearest scrapyards. E46's are now ten a penny at the scrappies so you should be a able to get a wing mirror for a semi-reasonable price from one.

I contacted Fabdirect and they've come in at £70, only problem is that it's not the Msport trim (very slightly different shape).

Found them through the forum, tempted to get it anyway and then look for the backing plate later

What colour? I should have some in stock although I'm not sure if it is Sport trim or not.

I'm not sure if the MSport trim matters, but the mirrors fold upwards, not electronically though!

I think it's what the coupes do, maybe they all have those aero/shark fin bits?

Anyway, here's my car for colour reference, I'll pop outside and take a couple of pics of the good mirror.

Ps I've taken the mirror apart tonight and the electrics look interchangeable, so i can go for power folding / heated / manual adjustments and just swap the internals hopefully!

Thoughts?

Weirdly, e9X mirrors are cheaper than E46 and they come in the same colour..!
