Hi, i've been asked to look at the roof operation on an E36 Cabriolet 318i as the owner says it's slow in operation. The roof is a fully automatic version & appears to work all ok but just seems slightly slow on the 1st stage of release after the windows have dropped. Ive tried looking up the operating time of the roof but have come to a dead end & i've nothing to compare it to as a reference. I do realise this car is 14 years old & won't be that quick to open/close the roof but i just want to know what the official operating time is of the roof so i can tell the owner yes they have a problem or no they don't. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well for the E46 its about 23 seconds, which I dont think is any quicker than the E36 vert I had.

thanks for the reply. I've ended up looking on you tube at several videos showing roof operation on E36 & used a stopwatch to time it. Roughly it takes 32 seconds average on all the clips i watched. With that information i timed the car i'm looking at & it took exactly the same amount of time so i guess there's not a problem with it.
