There is now an extra part which fits over the breather pipe to prevent it wearing out on the inner arch opening. Part numbers are:

Breather pipe part number is: B16.12.6.765.748
Protective tubing part number is: B16.12.4.390.434

I've just picked up the protective tubing from my local dealer for the princely sum of £1.40 and is split along its length to allow easy fitment over the existing breather pipe. smile
Just picked up a 330i myself (yesterday) on an 07 plate.
So... how do you fit the protective piece? Is it from under the car or through the rear inner arch or what? I'm a big fan of the preventative fix smile
Would be interesting to how you got on mutton.

I just found this thread over on E90post, might shed some light:

Image of o/s/r wheel arch, you can see the main filler pipe and this secondary breather pipe. Apparently where the breather goes into the wheel arch is where it rubs...

Also just found this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=414...

Implication from the BMW exploded diagram is that they changed the part from July 06:

Well BMW apparently delivered the wrong part to the car dealer yesterday. But should have the right part over to them today... Thursday may have been optimistic.

Thursday was optimistic. The arch liner is off. The suspension is off. The exhaust is off. The prop is off. The tank is dropped. The new part has been help up to the car and it's missing some vital clip.

Depression city.

It's arrived home!!!

Now could anybody tell me the correct tyre pressures and where the locking wheel nut is usually hidden?

Tyre pressure info is on a sticker on the b-pillar. Locking wheelnut should be with the toolkit under the boot mat.

Bugger. All thats under the boot is a big empty space. It appears the previous owner stripped the car of anything removable. And guess which muppet forgot to check in the process of doing everything else frown

Are you looking in the right place for the toolkit?

I wasn't sure where ours was on the E91, so I've just been out to look and its under the boot floor to the left.

But this is a touring, for the saloon, I've just Googled and read "On the right hand side of the boot is a wee tray. The base lifts out and the tool kit is under there".

You could be right there, Steve. It's a long time since I had anything other than a touring.

Worlds worst photo alert. hehe

Thats the deepest part under the boot floor.

On the right of the boot is a compartment with the battery, and on the left is an empty compartment and some fuses I think.

Shropshire BMW parts are not far away, so I might see if they have some things.

Is it not part of the battery compartment cover/tray?

Congrats on the new car and sorry to hear about the problems!!

Quick question; is this problem with fuel leaking isolated to the petrol engines? I've a 330d and just wondered!

All the best & enjoy

Nope, all E9x cars built before 08/06 could potentially have this problem - get it checked! You can prevent it from happening for minimal cost, but if it happens it's an expensive thing to rectify.

Well it'll never be this clean again!

Well that's £15 I didn't need to spend. I got a replacement for the failed cup holder. Bargain at £15. Having got the old one out and fitted the new one. Suddenly it became clear that the old one was just stuck in with sugary coffee. And now I've operated it a few times it appears to work better than the one I just fitted.... Still nice to have a spare I suppose. hehe
