F30 330d remap

I think it's 14.2 seconds to 100. 5.6 to 60.

That's for the touring, so the F30 should be a bit quicker as there is a fair weight difference between them.

So its as fast as a fiat coupe 20 v turbo to 100mph.


It is not M3 v8 quick which is 9 seconds to 100mph worlds apart. Even the e46 M3 is an 11 second car to 100mph.

Honestly thought it would be quicker

It will do it time and time again too.. I wouldn't fancy doing too many of them in a Fiat Coupe or 11 second 0-100's in an M3 that I owned.

eh? My money would be on the diesel blowing up long before the S54

I was meaning to get those times from an M3 would take some hard launching and gear changes which wouldn't be that kind to the clutch.. I'd not be doing it too often to one I owned.

I'm sure the engine will be fine.

I think expecting a 3 litre diesel estate car to be as quick as an M3 is being somewhat optimistic! It's seriously quick for what it is, but it weighs over 1700kgs, has 5 seats and space for dog, so we do need a bit of perspective here.

The fiat coupe, wasn't a slow old dog, especially in turbo form. It weighed 400kgs less than an F31 and does the 0-60 dash a second slower than the f31 and got to 100mph in 14 ish seconds too.

Personally I think the 330d is very impressive in terms of pace, though I'd love a 335d or just a bit more now I've got used to mine. Like anything, there's very rarely a time where you can have too much acceleration, or at least, not until it starts to get into the stupid territory that only litre plus bikes and hyper cars inhabit.

I will be very interested in what the 335d version of the f31 will be able to do and in a couple of years when I change frfom the 330, that may very well be the car that replaces it.

I can assure you the entire s54 drive train holds up very well.... 3 years and 40k miles

Unlike my e46 330d which was a complete Trigger's broom - i pretty much replaced every part on the car in 3 years to the point where it was no longer the same car

Got to also remember that an M3 (and I a, not knocking it BTW, great car sad it will no longer ever be made) when driven in a fast manner will be unlikely do over 15 mpg likely a lot less , the 330d M sport will likely do 35mpg or more , I agree though two different cars and maybe not right to compare. Also remember M3 is £10-15k more .

I suppose real world the 2 will never meet and if you drive 20000 miles a year and would like performance and not burn a hole in your pocket the 330d has to be more palatable !

Collect it Friday. Its rwd petrol 3 litre turbo [assume this is the same as the 135i] m sport and has quite a few toys.

I dont know what the 0-100 time is but I've read the 0-60 times ranging from 5 to 5.3 secs. I believe the electric motor assists the petrol motor when you gun it. Will let you know once I've [timed it] tested it properly.

I went in to the showroom thinking diesel and then this caught my eye.

The salesman was quick to point out that it will probably be more economical around town compared to the diesel, especially with cold starts and shorter journeys. This is irrelevant to me. I am sold on the 3 litre straight 6 turbo engine with added F1 style KERS.

The salesman told me the BIK was 18% but I think I read 19% on the internet. I dont know if this affects your decision.

I didn't lease I just bought used from the showroom. The lease boys may not offer discounts if they are not ordering in volume.

I'd never even heard of BMW hybrid so this probably gives you an indication of how many have been sold. There are only a handful on ebay / auto trader.

He's oddly saying you could buy a used M3 current spec for the same money as a brand new F30 330d with the spec OP wants.

Useful info but as OP has to buy new only about as relevant as me stating I need to change the oil in my lawn mower

I had an E92 LCI 330d so 245bhp. 6 to 60 and 15 to 100. It was a great amount of power without being so quick it was not useable. I have had many cars quicker but none of them could be 'used' adequately without worrying about losing my licence !

I think the slightly raised levels of power and performance of the new 330d compared to my 2010 model would make it an absolute hoot to drive.

I keep looking at a 335d xdrive but wonder if that wouldn't actually feel as much fun as the 330d ?

It shows how diesels have changed given I had a 330d for 3 years and am referring to driving them as fun !! I have a Z4 35iS so have something nice and rapid but did like my 330d !
