The cage I used is about 500 quid new. I did however get mine from ebay. I'm not sure simple is the word. It was as you say, a huge amount of work.

Ha ha I can imagine, I meant simple design as opposed to some you see that mean it's akin to climbing through a spiders web everytime you get in the car.

Will just have to keep browsing good ol eBay then.

Good luck with that one. I had the search "E36 cage" saved for over two years. This was the first one that came up.

I too was searching for an e36 cage at a reasonable cost for a couple of years until I saw a Renault Megane cage for £200, which after some measurements I bought & it required VERY little modification to fit, but EAY less than the £900 the same cage for the e36 would have cost at the time. Although I see they have dropped in price a lot since.

I noticed that to. When I first started looking for this cage it was about 900. It's now down to 500. Thankfully I paid more like half that. The competition one is still about a thousand. Which I find odd because it's basically this cage with a few more straight pipes welded in. Or so it looks from the pictures.

That would be breaking the rules. I can't repeat a track until the bumper is full of track stickers. Only one to go, and it's booked. But not until march. Sorry.

Lol. I have always said I never claim to be a good driver. Now I'm taking out some beginners I realise I know more than some. But I have been in the passenger seat of some really good drivers and know I'm not all that.

Sorry for the very late reply, but I have been working on my day to day car and updating the thread on that. We will be going to Oulton park first off this year.
I'm very pleased to say that after the couple of outings last year, I have had huge interest from several friend. So already booked for this year are, Oulton park, Snetterton, Brandshatch, Bedford Autodrome and Spa. Very excited to finally tick Spa off the list.

Now I just need to get two more semi slicks. I don't suppose anyone on here knows anywhere cheaper than camskill?

They are very cheap for normal road tyres, may be good for semi-slicks also.
