Annoyingly the Audi isn't finished yet. Don't get me wrong it looks like they are doing a good job.

But it does look like I won't get the control unit sent away this week.

Are you doing Croft on Monday? BMW CC do.

Unfortunately not. Croft is a long way away. I would like to try it sometime as its one I haven't done. But I have already used all my holiday for this year.

Shame as it's a very good circuit - my favourite along with Cadwell. I too have a 318iS track slag, not too shabby in the go dept and it cost slightly more than the square root of bugger all.

Finally someone else that's not 328 or M3. Was starting to thing I must be a bit strange.

140 bhp is enough really - I've had this engine (1.8 M42) for years and it was in a previous track car.

I don't think mine is really doing 140 anymore. I would like to think with the BBTB, cams, ported head, decat, twin cone and the remap it will be getting somewhere near 200.

Finally got the Audi back on the road today. So instantly immobilised the BMW by removing the ECU and sending it away to be mapped. It doesn't do any good to have to many cars actually mobile at once. It gives one overconfidence!

It is tucked away rather neatly behind the battery. Seems to keep it very clean in there to.

Hopefully it should be back late this week if not early next. Although I have another broken Audi to look at, I'm not really happy with the finish on mine, oh and the old Mercedes is making a hell of a knocking noise. If I ever get all this finished I might have time to refit the DME control unit.

I do enjoy these updates. On your car the DME is well sealed. On some of the first E36s the plastic cover wasn't sealed properly, if you parked near a large puddle you could return and find your car wouldn't start. You could normally dry the ecu out.
I may have missed it but did you go for an End Tuning remap? I once drove a remapped M44 that went off the end of the rev counter before you hit the limiter. Not the most sympathetic remap!

Yes it is on it's way to EndTuning now. He says he will be raising the limiter to 7 which is about the top of the dial, but that doesn't mean I have to drive it that way. wink

EndTuning have done a couple of M52/2.8 ECU for me and have always been happy with the results. Really quick service too!

Yes Enda seems very on the ball and very helpful. Emailed me tonight, the control unit is mapped and ready to come back.

Really amazingly fast service! Thanks TheEnd.

Last night I picked up some stainless steel that a friend has roled for me. These when welded will make up my tailpipe silencers.

Basically it's just going to be a tube welded onto a Subaru style tempary silencer, that I can slip on when she is annoyingly loud. Hopefully it will make for more peaceful motorway driving between tracks and as a back up if I ever get told I'm to loud, again.

Got the control unit back in today. Gave its little hole a blow out with compressed air, then bolted the ECU back in. Slightly rushed as I did it in my lunch break, in the middle of rebuilding a 915 gearbox for our current restoration.

A bit proud of both of them if I'm honest.

The remap seems like a good step forward. Gave her a quick test drive, but obviously the best test will be Bedford next month. Don't seem to run out of puff in fourth gear anymore. driving
