Nothing if you buy properly, the falacy that a cheap 8er is going yo be problematic needs to stop.

Paid £4k for mine, never skipped a beat.
Surely cant be worse than running an E38 ? (which is not bad)

Funny i drove by a dark blue 8 in my town an hour ago, couldn't make out if it was a 50 or 40, nice spot though, they look great, first one i've seen in years smile

Need an update O/P or a big gang of us will find you and burn your house down smile

Love these, didn't realise they did a manual 850 csi.

Moar pics please!
Huh? confused

All 850 csi's are 6 speed manuals!

The 850 ci on the other hand was available as an auto or a (rarer)6 speed manual.

Good evening!

Well, I thought I'd give you a brief update about yesterdays' events:

Due to the unavailability of my preferred towing vehicle at short notice we had to improvise and use my A6. (Please do not do the weight and brake allowance calculations - let's say it all went fine...!)

After arriving in Suffolk we were facing several challenges when loading the car. The first one was to turn it around (two tons, flat tyres...). The second one was to find the tow hook which was of course in the boot. Now, you might (please!) correct me but I do not think you can get into the boot unless you have power...and the two shining new batteries were anxiously awaiting our return-in Surrey! And I didn't bring jump leads as I was certainly not going to start the car. Luckily a very helpful neighbour helped out and we got our tow hook.

Next hurdle then loading onto the trailer. You guys should've warned me how low the E31 actually is! Flat tires don't help with that either...

but after some head scratching and with the help of some wooden planks the car was finally on the trailer.

Not much more happened on the day. The only technical update is that we believe the spark plugs do not need replacing, they look brand new (at least no 1 did).

Of course very tempted to just turn it on but didn't dare to, reluctantly. Lights all come on, wipers work - the car overall looks, feels and smells not at all like a car that was parked outside for 12 years!

Found some rust under the spare wheel, next to the water tank for windscreen wash and the AHK (I think, pls confirm!) The floor there is very brittle and can be poked through.

Quite a lot of water around the right hand battery in the boot - some of it surely from the car wash though.

I'll write about the history of the car, or at least the little that I know, tomorrow - as my better half only allowed one car day this weekend, hence the late posting of the photos etc. My apologies about that! I am fascinated and very appreciative about all the interest, absolutely amazing. Thank you!

First roof over its head since 2002!

A bit late now.... But you can open the boot with no power with the key, there's a lock right under the number plate light on the right hand side.!
