Hello Smashy! yes i'm at work glancing at PH...

I had the M Performance Power Kit fitted and...

It’s a really good improvement, really good.

Trying to explain in words the feeling of the car now is going to be difficult but I’ll try.

I picked the car up after getting the PPK fitted I turned it on, it felt as before. The 330d engine fired up, announced by a subtle rumble then faded into a background hum, very quiet. I trundled out of the car park and onto a 30 zone, the car felt lovely and smooth but nothing yet to suggest the new power increase, but could I feel a new level of smoothness or was it because I had just come out of a 320d loan car, was my mind playing tricks?

I ventured out of a 30 zone and onto a nice twisty 60 mph road, though not an opportunity yet to open the throttle but then I came to a junction. Turning left I exited the junction and I could see a clear road ahead, I took the car to 30 and put my foot down.

WOW, the power! The torque! The torque now comes in at a lower rpm, the surge was immense, the gear change to next was met with lovely liquid ferocity to keep the car propelled then I realised, I wasn’t quite foot down, goodness, this car is quick. Smiles, lots of smiles, the car went into the garage as a 330d and came out a 330d+.

The car now have a smoother engine, the extra torque and power makes the already rapid car into a super GT. A tuning box or remap tweaks the ecu and you get extra torque and power but the PPK is more than that, it changes the whole engine, it makes the low down torque super smooth and gives the car a capability to get to serious speeds but without drama, the power delivery is so smooth its sublime.

BMW have created a bolt on which at £1350 is a necessary buy, if you don’t fit it then you’ll miss out on what the 330d can really achieve. There are other bolt on and piggy back options but I can’t compare to them as I haven’t tried them, they could be good but the ppk retains the warranty and it works.

Various unofficial testing of the PPK with the 330d gives an output of around 303 bhp and torque to 650 Nm, my car feels that quick, but more than that, it's now a really great engine in a really great car.

Hi knitware

Just to clarify was that £1350 all in for everything but the brake upgrade. Or did it include that too?
Thanks
Mark

Maybe to keep the performance away from M cars but I doubt it... or maybe an agreement with Alpina?

It's annoying so I've opted for a none-OEM solution for 375bhp instead.

Who did you use? And any impact to insurance?

375bhp is very tempting (guessing that would be well under 5 seconds rwd car and sub 11 seconds to 100mph

Hi all. New user, just bought a used 2014 330D M-Sport Touring. £44k new as it had all of the best options, loving it.

I've skimmed through this thread, and there is lot of talk about various options - but have many of you actually got the tuning box/chip tuning and if so what is the consensus on the best ones, and what are they like to live with (mpg, worthwhile improvements etc.)?

It's my first performance diesel having had fast Golfs (GTI Edition 30 - Superchips Stage 2, Mk6 R APR stage 2) and a Passat R36 over recent years so I'm just considering my options at the moment. Gut feel is that it's quick, but not quite quick enough (I couldn't stretch to a 335d or the lovely Alpina).

Advice gratefully received.

Noob to the forum, hi guys.

Just upgraded my 2016 320d M Sport Touring to a new 330d M Sport Shadow Edition. Very pleased with new car but considering AC Schnitzer piggy back box, any comments anyone please?
