If it was an approved BMW modification I may well do it - but Super chips or any other non OEM if it goes wrong and you are keeping the car long term it would be a pain and ££

Still Alpina do the D3 with what 365bhp with near on no difference in performance on the public roads it makes a lovely choice to have for those who cannot have an M car
Re Alpina and their 350BHP to be fair they have also done a fair bit to the Engine not just stuck in a remap
http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/09/13/debut-alpina-d5-...

.... mind you look at this !!! a Plug in on a D3/5 nutssmile 385BHP 590 LB torque interestingly they also show what an engines max potential is (their opinion obviously)

Yes confirming what was on my receipt:
"BMW M Performance power kit for BMW F30/F31 330d"
It was a replacement ECU + a new intercooler. I understand the I/c is basically the same. Dimensions are no different.

You can see more here:
http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/owners/bmw-accessories/m-performance-accessories/3-series-saloon.html#drive
Only 320d kit is listed but the dealer will be able to find out about the 330 kit.

I've been driving the car in this guise for 6 months+ now and I can say it feels 15% faster than the E91 335d everywhere, particularly exiting roundabouts smile
Hello,

I'm booked in to get this done on my 330d, in your opinion was it worth doing? I have read alot of reviews and people say it feels smoother and the kick comes in sooner.

Yes do it. It's a no-brainer. In std form it is a bit lacking behind my old 335d but this brings power in line with it and with the excellent ZF box it makes it quicker.

A friend of mine just spent £7,000+ on an extra 120bhp for his 997 turbo. Same old thing with cars, you could argue "why bother?"
For me, the 330d needs another 30 torques and well worth the price given additional benefit of no warranty issues.
BMW are being careful of course as if they offer much more, it defeats the object of the 335d, who's respective X-Drive only spec turned me off it.

But of course you can do the same with the 35d too.

This is allways the Elephant In The Room isnt it ..quote from website how true is this (again!!)

Q. My vehicle is still under manufacturers warranty will it be affected?

A. It is difficult to tell if your ECU has been tuned so a Dealer will only know if you tell them. So your warranty should remain unaffected.

I think it's a bit more than the above figures as it brings on the torque earlier in the rev range and the extra power increase is a welcome boost. It's also evident that BMW were very reserved when claiming torque and power figures for the 330d. After a PPK was fitted and a dyno run made the following figures were obtained:

Torque 490 ft.lb - (664 Nm)
Power 304 hp

It seems that the engine was producing more than the claimed factory power and torque figures as standard and the PPK helped to release a little more, bring it on earlier, smooth out the low end and smooth out the delivery.

Also included is a larger intercooler and the standard warranty remains as is. I'm presuming BMW would have put thought into this 'add on'therefor it should be a good product.

All in all a performance bargain!

Hello Smashy.

Yes, I’m booked in February to get the work done. Recently I had the springs changed to AC Schnitzer, I have an M Sport 330d with passive dampers and I though the suspension was ok but after a while I grew tired of the wallowing through corners, bobbing up and down on the motorway and nose dive under braking, the new springs have stopped this behaviour, really good handling and it’s made the car come alive.

Getting the PPK may hard to prove as being worthwhile until warmer weather as traction is a problem at the moment, torque, winter tyres, damp roads and the cold cause the rear to squirm and traction control to kick in.

Great about the AC springs and you know my thoughts re Standard suspension ,,,DANGEROUS!! lol.....Knitware I love the AC springs and dampers I then decided to go the whole way and got rid of my runflats and again another step up in ride comfort, good luck with the PPK

Re the standard suspension if you see Ice Road Truckers when they bounce up and down in their seats? That was me and my partner on a road near Kings lynn going to Rossiters the ACS distributors im not kidding it was mental.Coming back on the ACS Full kit fully planted it was a revelation really so glad we encountered the area for a before and after

...funny enough I was unhappy with the standard leather seats felt like I was falling out of them. so much so went to Recaros place in leicester but decided no as I couldnt justify the cost and would ruin a very nice interior, but since I changed the suspension the seat comfort is a lot better for one thing that nose diving on breaking I felt like I was on a big dipper holding on to the seat now thats all gone ,,so the ACS got me a comfy seat as well smile

Hello Smashy! yes i'm at work glancing at PH...

I had the M Performance Power Kit fitted and...

It’s a really good improvement, really good.

Trying to explain in words the feeling of the car now is going to be difficult but I’ll try.

I picked the car up after getting the PPK fitted I turned it on, it felt as before. The 330d engine fired up, announced by a subtle rumble then faded into a background hum, very quiet. I trundled out of the car park and onto a 30 zone, the car felt lovely and smooth but nothing yet to suggest the new power increase, but could I feel a new level of smoothness or was it because I had just come out of a 320d loan car, was my mind playing tricks?

I ventured out of a 30 zone and onto a nice twisty 60 mph road, though not an opportunity yet to open the throttle but then I came to a junction. Turning left I exited the junction and I could see a clear road ahead, I took the car to 30 and put my foot down.

WOW, the power! The torque! The torque now comes in at a lower rpm, the surge was immense, the gear change to next was met with lovely liquid ferocity to keep the car propelled then I realised, I wasn’t quite foot down, goodness, this car is quick. Smiles, lots of smiles, the car went into the garage as a 330d and came out a 330d+.

The car now have a smoother engine, the extra torque and power makes the already rapid car into a super GT. A tuning box or remap tweaks the ecu and you get extra torque and power but the PPK is more than that, it changes the whole engine, it makes the low down torque super smooth and gives the car a capability to get to serious speeds but without drama, the power delivery is so smooth its sublime.

BMW have created a bolt on which at £1350 is a necessary buy, if you don’t fit it then you’ll miss out on what the 330d can really achieve. There are other bolt on and piggy back options but I can’t compare to them as I haven’t tried them, they could be good but the ppk retains the warranty and it works.

Various unofficial testing of the PPK with the 330d gives an output of around 303 bhp and torque to 650 Nm, my car feels that quick, but more than that, it's now a really great engine in a really great car.
