So I just collected my lovely 2003, Manual E39 520i SE Touring in Titan Silver, long 2 hour drive back, and unfortunately around 2 hours of traffic jams, but it was a great drive and allowed me to get to know the car and the way it drives. Superb comfort and cruising on motorway, lots of toys and full black unmarked leather interior is a great place to be. Not much poke in 1st and 2nd though, but seems once you get rolling it's got some overtaking ability, but not a huge amount! Anyway much quicker than my Kangoo, and I didn't buy it for fast thrills, my 911 Turbo see's to that job nicely. Overall initial impressions, lovely car, great to look at, huge load capacity ( needed for work ) and very comfortable, so very pleased!
I was worried was going to be too long to fit into my parking space, but it sits nicely in front of the Turbo with not much overhang ! smile

That looks rather lovely, congrats.

Not the fastest, as you say, but that 2.2 lump is the smoothest of the smooth.

Looks great, had thought about one of these for a daily for the OH as I assume you can find examples in better condition than a 530i and will use a fair amount less fuel than a 540i (that we used to own!).

Can you keep this updated with rough MPG figures?

thanks, yes it's a very clean car, so I snapped it up, good ones don't seem to wait around long! I am debating whether to put some different alloys on, although very conscious of not making it look like a chav wagon!

MPG back from my trip to collect, with 2 hours traffic jam wasn't great, i used about £20.00 of fuel, 30mpg is what the trip computer said,

I'll keep this thread updated with MPG and some more pics ! smile

Looks lovely. I picked up my 530i SE manual touring a couple of weeks ago It's not as tidy as yours at the moment, and needs a fair bit of suspension refurb which it's getting next week, but in a few months I hope to have it looking as good as yours.

It's my third E39, I just keep coming back to them.

We have a 530d Touring Auto, and I think it's a great car. Wasn't sure to start with, but we have had it 6 months and I love it. Have had a couple of small niggles, a wet foot well in the back, due to the membrane needing resealing, and the hedgehog went, which drained the battery. Just over £50 for a replacement from Amazon (needed next day) and all sorted.
Mine is poverty spec, without leather, but the CD changer works, as does most of the other toys, so what's not to love.

Dank, I think it looks great on those Style 81 wheels. If you do decide to change the wheels I'm sure there would be a ready buyer for those.

I'd keep it looking exactly as is, including the wheels (best ones for a facelift SE I think!)

welcome to the club and looks great

we have an 02 sport touring in titan silver on style 42s for most the year and style 81s (yours) for the winter tyres... i personally think the style 81s suit the SE really well and look really rubbish on with the sport bodykit

whats on the list of things to be done? i think before you said most the stuff has been done already but anything else on the horizon?

No plans to do anything to it, prefer keeping my cars standard, possible back side and rear windwo tints as it's a work car, and maybe a pistonheads sticker somewhere! smile

Originally I was toying with the idea of slightly lowering, adding some 18 inch black motorsport alloys, but think those thoughts have now passed....

I picked up a rather lovely 530d end of last year, lovely comfy thing, mine is fully specced in Green sand beige cow with a monstrous history too. 47mpg on a long gentle run.

No advisories on the MOT, its been very well looked after and other jobs sorted before I purchased it, hence why i snapped it up!

Nothing planned, although slightly scuffed the front bumper parking it yesterday....DOH! not used to such a huge car....

What's the best way to get light concrete scuff off the painted front bumper, only looks very surface, nothing thats gone into the paint.... bit annoyed with myself, only had it 3 days frown

I have a huge favor to ask. Can you please email me tons of photos of this cars outside? This is damn near I dentical to the last car my dad had before he died (but his was a 525i) and I haven't been able to find pictures on one ANYWHERE in this color with these wheels, especially a post-facelift model. Thanks so much!
Or just post more pictures here.
