Magic moving mirror???

Every time I turn the engine off and remove the key my drivers door mirror glass motors to a different position. This is highly annoying, and I'm sick of having to reposition it every time I get in the car. Any idea why it's doing it and how I stop it? Car is a 2012 X1.

Have you got memory electric seats? It might be related to that.
Try setting the mirror up, and then moving the driver/passenger selector switch to the passenger side and it might stop it.

My 335d always did that, annoyed the hell out of me, especially as I was the only one who ever drove it

Common problem on memory mirrors, issue is due to corrosion on the contacts for the mirror motor.

Google "fixing the phantom auto mirror" and it will take you to a different forum which has a DIY on how to fix this. I followed this myself and it fixed my mirrors - took 20 minutes for the first mirror, 5 for the second once I knew what I was doing.

Thanks all. I don't have memory seats or mirrors as far as I know, so unless I've missed something it must be a fault. I tried leaving the mirror switch in either position and it made no difference. Got it booked in for a look under warranty next week.

mine seams to be doing this at the moment. just the drivers side, i have electric memory seats and comfort access.
will have to have a look on the google machine.

Mine got fixed under warranty after three attempts. The whole mirror assembly has been replaced.
