My Z4 3.0si coupe.
Discussion
I had a 3.2ltr Boxster S, & that eats the Z4 alive in the twisties, but in a straight line I reckon the Z4 is a bit quicker - especially when picking up speed from say 60 or 70mph.
Thought I'd miss the Boxster, but the coupe has really grown on me & I don't regret swapping at all. I think the coupe is much more interesting to look at.

I did love the Porsche, but I find that the Z4 Coupe just has these fantastic lines that hark back to golden age of GT cars. I love the long nose & the cabin right near the rear.
I also like the exclusivity of the Coupe, although I'm fully aware that there are rarer cars around.
Oddly I've never been a massive fan of the E85.

Interesting thread as I've just bought wifey a Z4 Coupe (same blue/cream spec as above) & have to say its a great bit of kit, goes really well & looks fantastic.(The car, before you ask)
As said the steering gets a little interesting, but that & my TVR Griffith in the drive seems to make passers by want to stop for a natter

Yeah, the steering is a little jumpy sometimes. Not good for a car like that. Although I had 4 new tyres put on & the tracking done last week & it's much better (stuck with the runflats though).
Talking about the 'exclusivity' though, I drove from Torquay up to Spencers Wood last week only to find a grey/silver E86 parked almost opposite my mate's house :-D

Can't say I've noticed the clutch noise, but will try & remember to check tomorrow.
Yes, the gearbox does sometimes need an optional extra swear word - particularly getting it into reverse :-D
Interestingly all of the Montego Blue Coupes in this thread have plain glass in the rear quarter. Most others I've seen have darkened glass there. Which I don't like.

Thought i might chip in on this thread as well.
My GF bought this about 2 months ago. Montego Blue with Individual Champagne Nappa Leather
with pro Nav. I totally love it. The engine is immense and I agree the gearbox takes some time to get used to. Cant wait to ditch the RFTs but they are practically new, so will have to wait a while yet.
I bought my Z4C Nov-12.
It reminds me of my 1966 Scimitar Coupe, owned in the early 80s, and helps me to forget my stupidity not buying my brothers Series 1-and-a-half Etype Coupe in the middle 80s.
It joins my MG Midget, with a 154bhp KSeries; once used for hillclimbs and sprints, now for touring and TDs (will join the LoT boys in Abbeville this summer).
I run it as a company car, living in Worcs and spending 1, 2, or 3 days at company HQ in Bournemouth. Well, you might was well drive something interesting if you're going for a DC/main-road commmute.
Like poster above, when I'm not on a mission (it happens!) I can return close on 40mpg. Has a great impact on friends... e.g. my TR-6 for-life friend sold his 6 within 2 weeks of having a ride in the Z4C... and bought a Chim. A great result all round.
Me? I just love coupes and 6 cylinder engines... there's something so right sitting in a closed 2-seater with 6 cylinders by your left leg. I can't iamgine selling it.
(PS - now runs without the Z4 badge... I like the uncluttered look...)

Sorry to crash a thread slightly... I have an opportunity to buy one of these in (what seems to be) a rare colour combination of Alpine White with Black Oregon. It is an automatic though and ideally I'd rather a manual. Are automatic examples of the 3.0si Z4C less desirable? I just don't want to be stuck with a car which will be hard to resell.
Doesn't have nav either, but I hardly think this is a problem.. it was a terrible system back then so if anything makes for a nicer dash without it!
PS.. Ex-GT6 MkIII owner so I know what all the fuss is about!
