Sorry to crash a thread slightly... I have an opportunity to buy one of these in (what seems to be) a rare colour combination of Alpine White with Black Oregon. It is an automatic though and ideally I'd rather a manual. Are automatic examples of the 3.0si Z4C less desirable? I just don't want to be stuck with a car which will be hard to resell.
There are some of us that wouldn't even entertain one without 3 pedals...Alpine White is fantastic, though.

Doesn't have nav either, but I hardly think this is a problem.. it was a terrible system back then so if anything makes for a nicer dash without it!
Agree with you on this! I'd rather fit a DIN-sized unit that can be replaced when it becomes obsolete. smile

Ours is auto & its perfect for where we live, very happy in town traffic but lots of fun once we get into the countryside.

PS.. Ex-GT6 MkIII owner so I know what all the fuss is about!
Sorry again for thread hijacking again! Clearly the right people are lurking here so just seeking a final bit of advice:

I've now had a chance to see the Alpine White car... little bit tatty for 77,000 miles but definitely not the end of the world. Nothing that can't be sorted. Has a good set of dealer stamps and is only a 2 owner car. I have just 1 question... should the rocker cover be dirty with oil around the 3rd and 4th screw from the front? The rest of the rocker cover screws are clean. Just making sure this is normal? Here's the pic-

Otherwise the engine ticks ever so slightly but I remember my M54 325Ci doing this as well. It's not something to worry about?

Thank you! beer

I think its down to the individual owner. If I decide to trade my Z4C for a e89 Z4 35is M sport it will have to be DCT as the 35is only comes with DCT, so no manual. But the Z4 35i does come as a manual.
I think a white Z4C in alpine white will sell not matter what gearbox us in it as it's a desirable colour. If you buy it, think about getting a set of CSL replicas for it as they look awesome on a white Z4C.

Good shout. I agree about CSL's looking great with white, and especially as the 18" Composite Star wheels on it at the moment are knackered this would be a good idea. Would I need to buy 19" ones or does anyone make 18" versions? Would prefer not to waste 4 nearly new tyres! Then again might not look right with 18" ones

Alpine White is certainly a rare colour, only 5 SEs, 18 SPs & 18 Ms imported to the UK (according to what I believe to be a reliable chart on Pistonheads).

I had no idea so many coupes were registered here.

Look up BM Autosport or CM Wheels, both do CSL replicas in 18" or 19". I just ordered some from Mark at BMA and cannot fault the customer service

Sadly I just can't get the cash together quickly enough to buy the white one, but if anyone knows someone who is looking for one then message me and I'll pass on the details...

They are sending it to an auction next week, just seems a really good opportunity to get a 2 owner white one before a dealer adds their mark up... and I can't advertise it as its not my car to advertise!!

That's life! Lol.
When you press the clutch pedal and release it to the bite do you hear a strange spring like noise? Also can gear changes be a bit notchy at times?
When I bought mine it only had 24000 miles on the clock, I took it back after I heard the clutch noise. I had the clutch and fly wheel changed under warranty and it still makes the exact same noise. They have offered to change the gearbox oil now but BMW said it won't make any difference as the gearbox oil should never need changed as its a lifetime oil!
Yes mine does all the things you mention I have heard of others on the Z4 forum that also do this, nothing to worry about as far as I know. Ive had mine three years and so for it hasn't got worse.
