Second time this has happened now in a month, so I'm convinced this isn't just bad luck.

Any ideas on where to look for the electricity leak? Or is the fault around not charging up properly.

Car used daily for short runs , and a 400 mile commute darn sarf and back oop north once a week

These types of issues are difficult to diagnose without actually seeing the car. It could be anything electrical.

Do all your electrical systems work okay, anything defective or intermittent?

Do you have any aftermarket systems fitted to your car such as Tracker / alarms / Speed Trap systems (Pogo/Valentine/etc)? Was it installed competently?

While you are searching for the issue get yourself a Ctek MXS 5.0 battery (AGM battery) conditioner. This will allow you to keep your battery charged up so it doesn't fail on you in the short term.

Have you had the battery tested?

RAC tested everything this morning and could find no fault. Only thing I know is a main beam bulb blew a couple weeks ago and I haven't replaced it yet.

The only common theme I can think of is that at both times I was using the aux in on the radio to play music through from my phone. And that maybe this isn't triggering the radio to shut down when turning the engine off.

Or I've accidentally left a door slightly open. Will rigoursly check each time I leave it now that it's locking up properly.

Went flat for a 3rd time today. Guy tried to help us with a jump start on the terminals under the bonnet, but not enough juice to get it going. Tried on the battery itself and it worked.

Went again tonight. RAC thus time. 3rd time I've seen them in a month. Quick diagnosis, loose positive battery terminal. What a numpty I felt..

Lesson learnt, check the obvious!
