Why are there no decent E46 330i for sale?

I've been following the PH Classifieds/AutoT/eBay/Gumtree etc for weeks now and i've yet to find a good one for sale.

I admit I've got quite a specific spec in mind (facelift, saloon, 6 spd, MV2 alloys, under 100k miles with service history and preferably in blue, but that's not a necessity!) and there's nowt out there.

There's a grey one for sale with 83k on the clock, dealer refused to answer any questions on the history/condition which is just grand...

There was an absolute minter for sale in the PH classifieds with 52k miles but it sold before I could get it madmad

So if anyone is thinking about selling theirs, I have the money ready hehe

Won't be too many with less than 100k miles. Whilst I can appreciate why you'd want one with low mileage, personally I'd be happier with one that's had the common issues resolved............like a complete new cooling system that'll be required. I'd buy on condition rather than mileage/age.

These cars eat the miles and, if well maintained, should last for ages. My '53 plate 330i is now on 160k and drives great.

Also, many are autos, so your search for a manual doesn't help.

Good luck smile

Thanks to the PHer that emailed me (unsure of your username) potentially offering theirs for sale.

100k was a rule of thumb, not for definite and of course condition is better than miles.

Willing to take a 5 spd over a 6 spd but don't think any 5 speeds came with MV2s?

I understand autos are more common than manuals but I am not ready for one yet.

The hunt continues! moanscratchchin

MV2's are the facelift sport wheels, the 6 speed box is facelift gearbox, so the two go together, I would have sold you mine, but its an auto, and I just cant be arsed cleaning it up for a sale.

Just sold mine.

I would honestly say to not worry about mileage too much. Having just sold an example with 163K on the clock they really do wear well. Any example with lower miles may not have actually been looked after, they could have been driven in London for years.

These aren't "special" cars for the majority of people, especially the people that bought them new, the mileage will keep increasing. Even M3s are getting very leggy now. It really isn't a problem if they are cared for.

On the saloons some early 03 cars had the facelift but only got MV1 wheels and the five speed. Theres one on ebay now thats a facelift but MV1 and five spd.

The heater buttons in the centre dash are old style as well. One horizontal button instead of two above each other.

One has come up today for sale on AT so ill take a closer look after work....

I might be selling my 330 soon. On the plus side its a manual and blue. On the negative side, its a coupe and pre-facelift ... so probably not for you smile Best of luck with finding a good one.

If you have to have MV2 alloys they can easily be swapped

Fair enough, I would buy on condition not millage, these cars are also rot boxes, check for rust.

I'm looking to sell mine soon, it's a 330i auto in Imola Red, it doesn't really meet your needs in anyway but you might want to have a look

Some shameless plugging of my own car but a few pics below on a previous thread:

Car looks ace and Imola Red is a stunning colour.

Sadly Auto is not for me. It really needs to be a manual but I appreciate the effort to reply beer

My 52 330i is a facelift with MV1 and 5spd, afaik the 6 spd didn't come along until the coupe was facelifted.
