Due to the family expanding, the 330 must go. For the money I cannot decide what to replace it with. The saloon would be a sensible option, but having looked at them in the past, most are tatty high mileage examples. Suggestions welcome.

Cheers.

once smitten and all of that....i reckon youll struggle to find anything else that offers the package of the e46 so you might have to sit it out... or better still get an alpina b3 saloon!

Alpinas are a good option if some are ffor sale when I am looking. 535d is my 1st choice, although they are also rare and often well used and over priced.

How big is the family getting? We managed with an e46 touring and occasional roof box for long camping hols until our boys were 3. Only changed cars because she wrote it off! :-(

I have been advised by other half it has expanded enough, that it must go. To be honest I agree (slightly). 4 doors will just make life easier, if a saloon or touring pops up and is in roughly same condition as mine, I would probably go for one. Mine is absolutely faultless which always seems to be the case when you have to sell them! Babies are lucky they are cute.

There are plenty of fair mileage good examples about, picked up my four door about 6 months ago.
Needed the Water pump and rad refresh and had (still has) some minor niggles but for a couple of grand its still a lot of car.
The coupes seem to be the in demand ones and prices have seemed to increase compared to the saloon so you might be in pocket at the end of the day. smile

I will hopefully get my money back, if not some extra due to work carried out and condition. I have seen a couple of v70r for sale, they are a tempting purchase. We shall see.

That's pretty cheap for an alpina isn't it?

...that seems absurdly cheap, especially if it really has just had £1700 worth of work (belts, bushes, steering rack) as claimed. Am I missing something here?

2 kids and never had 4 doors, it never bothered me to be honest, if you want the car enough you'll cope.

I did as well, but tbh in the early years they grew up in the back of a 200SX , the two BMW coupes I have had since are positively spacious.
