All-new 2.0 diesel engine released in X3

Looks like they have replaced the N47 with an all-new 2.0 diesel in the X3, according to Autocar. No doubt it will flow through the other models at their next facelifts.

Apparently this new one is the B47 and has only two components in common with the N47.

Yeah apparently they retained the timing chain and the tensioner.

Why wouldn't they, BMW has repeatedly said there is nothing wrong with it. No point changing things just for the hell of it.

just heard theyve had a rethink and are retaining the turbo.

Something has to be the first model to get a new engine.
At which stage everyone says "Why didn't the previous new model get it?"

It has to start somewhere.

The 1 series and 2 series will get it at their LCI facelifts.
