What model??

E39? 96-2003
E60? 2004-2010
F10? 2010-current

And why would you want to put speakers behind you anyway?

OK.

You have subwoofers under your seat, these can be upgraded to 8" and will go low.
You then have 4" in your doors, these again can be upgraded and while you have the door card off you should put tweeters in the stock location.
Then add a small 4 channel amp, the front channels will drive the mid range and tweeters and the rear channels the under seat subs, you can use the crossovers on your new amp to cut frequencies below around 100hz going to the mids and then send everything below 100hz to the new subs.

Search e90/e60 speaker upgrades, quite a few plug and play options out there now, and that is the way I would go.

Just leave the oem rear speakers running off the head unit, this will give a bit of rear fill but once you have done the rest you will not care about rear speakers.

I had the 475 running the stock mids and the BMW top hifi/Logic7/Harman Kardon tweeters, these simpluy plug into the mids, take 20 mins to install.

Then had the amp driving the fronts and the subs under the seats, it made a massive difference to the overall sound, and the subs started to play harder and deeper.
However I then popped in some Earthquake SWS8 subs and that transformed it. I spent my time installing them properly into the oem sub enclosure using bathroom sealant to get a good air tight fit and they dropped to 32hz before rolling off, which is very impressive. Most people thought there must be a high end 10 or 12" sub in the car somehwere.

They cost around £250 a pair from the states, delivered.

But buy some BMW tweeters, the top hifi ones, not the hifi ones as they are too bright, and put your amp in first, you might be surprised how go that sounds.

Oh, and crossover the fronts at 100hz and the subs at 100hz on the THA-475 amp, because they are up front you don't get that bass behind you sound, so could even go to 120hz on the crossover.

Hi

In addition to the above, take a look at the upgrade speaker package from MB Quart specifically designed for the E60/1.

http://www.mbquart.com/mbquart_bmw_speakers.html

Also, have a look at the Ground Zero package

http://www.ground-zero-audio.com/en/products/car-s...

The Earthquake SWS 8 items can be sourced within the UK

http://www.earthquakesounduk.com/?p=1595 (the USA price above is cheap if it includes all taxes, postage and customs costs etc)

Cheers, Dennis!

You have flat pins on the E60, have you got the plug and play harness for the THA-475?

What was it on your last car?

Oh, one other thing, you have to be careful how you route the cable from the amp back to the boot.

It can interfere with radio reception quite badly.

This is from the Alpine retrofit, but the same rules apply. Have a look at the diagrams and try and copy where you lay the wires.
