Help! How to force nav firmware re-install (e46/z4)
Discussion
Hi all
Was updating my dad's Z4MC nav for him, silly me I turned off the ignition when I think it had already started the update, didn't realise as the screen was blank at the time.
Now the car only speaks French or German, choosing English on the Menu just makes it go back to German.
I reckon re-installing the firmware will solve this, but the car now doesn't do that as it sees the disc as the current - how do I get it to reinstall?
Thanks!

You need to install a different version of the firmware or edit the firmware and language version of the software CD that you have.
You can find various software versions here http://www.e38.org/nav/
If you have a Mk III Nav (CD based maps with NO 'DVD' logon on the Nav computer) the software CD MUST be an ISO Mode 2 Form 1 format disc, if it's not it will lock up the Nav computer. If you have a Mk III and don't know what this means, don't try and burn a CD yourself from a downloaded CD image!
