Just trying to point Beefy in the direction of a decent deal! For practicality reasons I may be looking at an estate myself but if I do it won't be powered by the fuel of Satan; been there before and it just doesn't do it for me!!

Got to ask why not the 335?

I think over 3 years it was £50-60 pm more. I had to draw the line somewhere.

The 330 is already a machine gun to kill a fly.

I don't need it. Just wanted it.

Sounds like you got a competitive discount so well done on that. However, when looking at PCP's the monthly repayments don't really mean much in isolation; you really need the deposit, the term of the agreement, the annual mileage and the GFV to get the full picture!

You don't need the GFV instead just deposit and then PCM values plus miles

But to understand the overall cost of the deal don't you need the GFV as well? Without that I don't see how can you form a view on something like how much of your deposit you're likely to retain at the end of the agreement. Put another way, a low monthly repayment could just be a reflection of the fact your deposit is going to be (in effect) written-off over the term of the agreement but without having the GFV how would you know?

Depends what you're comparing it against. Against leasing, where you're guaranteed no equity, you don't need a GFV.

If you're comparing two PCP deals on different cars, the GFV is vital.

Imagine:

£30k car
£6k down
£400 per month × 36
£12k GFV
Total cost = £32400

If the GFV is £15k then the total cost is £35,400.

To put it another way, you have £3k more deposit (or spend less cash to buy the car, or more equity if you look at it that way) with the lower GFV. Of course if the car is worth £10k then you would hand it back regardless and then GFV doesn't matter.

I'm assuming there would be zero equity - if there is that's a nice problem to have but you cannot guarantee anything as such ignoring the GFV is fine as you have total deposit plus the PCM amounts.

Fine for affordability but not for comparing between PCPs, otherwise you might turn your equity into interest for the lender.

That's what I was getting at - I mean i can see no way that a fully loaded 335d touring M sport 4 years old with 50k miles would be only worth £15k ish. Look at second hand ones today firstly there are hardly any for sale at all and then they are much more than that value.

I agree, it will be worth around £19/20k and retailing for £22-24.

But that is why GFV is vital, but as long as you know the interest rate then you know what the deal is.

BMW are currently throwing money at these, which makes future GFVs drop, but once those incentives are gone the GFV will go up again.

I'm in the 85-90% going to go for it at the moment and likely to throw even more options in on it - this will be a very long term keeper 5-7 years for myself and then the wife for at least the same again (well that would be the theory)

Colour seems to be the challenge

I love estriol blue
Wife not so keen she likes the grey so much more - a stealthy look not shouts out about performance

Spec she really isn't keen on pano roof thinks its too much money plus she wouldn't want it open at all when in the car - glare hurts her eyes. .

Thoughts on colour?

Mine is Estoril Blue. I had been tempted by one in the showroom which was Black with red leather. The blue is a lovely colour, really nice. I do think that BMW paint is terrible though in terms of quality and expect to have to get the car detailed soon. Grey would be more stable re aesthetics. The blue is lovely though and matches the brake callipers on the bigger brakes!

Will BMW release a PPK (performance bhp enhancement ) for the 335d?

I'd be tempted with a warrantied option it would make a fast car into what would be super car fast back in the 90's.
Heck the standard F30 335d is well over 50% more powerful than the Ford Cossie .... Imagine that back then hey a diesel will beat you in any situation on the public roads.
