Hi Guys,

My F31 turned up last week, about 5 weeks earlier than planned. I took a few pics, should particularly help those trying to decide!

I wasn't sure on the grey when ordering, though now love it in the flesh.

Still driving it gently while I break the engine in.

Cheers

Definitely the best colour.

I always drive my cars hard when breaking them in, and I have always had great BHP on the rolling road and never uses any oil.

Obviously get it up to temp etc., but don't nanny it everywhere when new, not good for it imho.

I'm not normally a grey car sort of bloke but that looks rather smart.

That is interesting Guy. This is my first new car, so I did lots of hunting around and stumbled across this:

As a future buyer of a second hand one of these, spec all the bloody options! Pano roof, better leather, sound system, Xenons and adaptive etc. I'll thank you all in 5 or 6 years.

Enjoy your new cars guys. My 06 E91 will have to do for now.

That looks great.

I thought long and hard between grey and blue, opted for the blue to match the calipers. I collect it on Saturday in the UK to drive back to Switzerland - really looking forward to it if it is dry.

Shapes - does your have the adaptive suspension that is 10mm lower?

Really like the look of it that colour privacy rear windows and touring spec M Sport Plus for the brakes HK and Xenons.

What other options did you go for?

The M-Sport Plus is a bargain - not available in 'Le Suisse'. That and the standard poverty M-Sport spec (no leather, parking sensors, metallic paint etc.) over here made it each yo choose to purchase LHD in the UK.

The electric memory seats were an option too far though at 900.

Lovely looking car, enjoy.
Did you de badge the rear and leave the side badges ?

Waiting on delivery of the 330d in Tanzanite, due in June so not too long. Tried to upgrade to the 335d after I had placed the order but due to having the individual leather and colour it was locked early. Oh well, will be happy with the 330d that is replacing my old trouble free E46 330d with 260,000 miles I have had for 12 years.

That's some distance and you've certainly got your money's worth out of it - and no doubt it still has plenty of life left in it. (Presume you kept it totally standard and serviced it on the button OEM parts)

I'd say that was fair advice, don't baby the engine but don't rag it either, give the engine load but not sustained high revs.

Thing is most people buy used cars and as a good 50% ++ of cars are co cars then rental cars then lease cars with very few being bought privately new I'd wager most are driven normally from day one using full rev range and plenty nailed from day 1.

Welshbeef, I went for the following options:

M Sport Plus Pack
Pro Media Pack
Visibility Pack
Adaptive M Sport Suspension
Electric Towbar (for the bike rack, though it is a clever bit of engineering)
Electric Mirrors

Standard inside with brushed aluminium which does look awesome (I was initially going to go with aluminium hexagon).

I did debadage it at the back tighnamara, as it will be my daily drive I didn't want to make it too obvious what it had under the bonnet, though left the badges on the side for thoses really looking hard:

Tanzanite was my other colour choice which will look epic and the 330d will still be huge fun smile

I wonder if the sales guys at Welshbeefs local dealer all hide when they see him popping in for yet another PCP quote? He appears to have been doing it for about a year now hehe

I walked into two dealerships only about two months ago. Was offered 18% off list on a M135i, and 22% off list on a x335d. Not a lot of haggling at either place, just being prepared to walk away.

If you lot are trying to decide whether you have a good deal on finance judging by the list price you are somewhat deluding yourselves.

Kept totaly standard andtregularly serviced. Just had first clutch changed at 230,000 miles, original exhaust, no engine problems as such and just replaced the usual suspension parts / brakes.

Its actualy being taken off the road, someone ran up the back of me 7 years ago and I had the repair completed at an Aberdeen dealer (no names mentioned but only one in Aberdeen)
Now 7 years later the back inside quarter panel and wing have totaly disentegtared, all other original panels are in perfect condition.Have been told by a body shop that the repair was very badly carried out.
Kicking myself because I should have taken it back when I saw some of the surface rust coming through, you live and learn and I will ensure they never get a penny from me again.

I'm sure, but we were discussing running in a new car.

It would be a very strange way to look at it, but I'm not sure anyone is?

Collected mine in the UK yesterday and currently covered 1000kms and half way home. Pretty rubbish experience with damaged wheels on the car at pickup, double booked collections for a single person working and then I whacked the wing mirror on a flapping bog door on the EuroTunnel - FFS!!!!

I also was specific with the dealer to secure the front number plate by screw near the middle as the Swiss plate is much smaller and I did not want screw holes left on the front when the Swiss plates go on. They did screw the front plate on using holes nearer the centre - but they screwed the bloody plastic number plate holder to the bumper by the extremities so I will still have holes - FFS!

Not to mention the crap my wife has got me taking back, a manky used petrol mower, a new TV cabinet a million bottles of shampoo!

What was a lovely clean car is not filthy and covered in dead insects. On the plus it is a really nice drive, once it is run in and empty of crap I think I will be able to cane it to my hearts content.

2 questions for the troops:
Is it possible to get the folding mirrors to fold on lock, I have searched pretty hard with no joy.
The new Coldplay album is not found by gracenote so it appears as unknown artist / unknown album - anyone else have this?

Love the finger writing whizzy thing on the iDrive controller. The tech is years ahead of my old C Class Mercedes. I love all the driving style analysis - I know it is Bobbins really.

I was really looking forward to a European road trip taking the car back home but it just seems to be a let down - everything has conspired against me from the flight home, to public transport, to the dealer pickup, to the Coldplay album.....

Mind you, I a m currently enjoying a nice steak and some French wine before the final leg tomorrow.

And relax....

PS and I never noticed BMW use horrible orange bulbs for the front indicators - what is that about?
