Should I have admitted to listening to Coldplay?

I'm certain it'll be possible to code it if it's not a menu option. Weird that the functionality was built into my E61 with optional folding mirrors, but it took an indie with Autologic to turn it on. By now BMW may have made it accessible to the user somewhere, of course.

Found it, it is not in the menu, but if you hold the lock button down for a few secs after locking they fold - including my damaged one frown

Collected mine in the UK yesterday and currently covered 1000kms and half way home. Pretty rubbish experience with damaged wheels on the car at pickup, double booked collections for a single person working and then I whacked the wing mirror on a flapping bog door on the EuroTunnel - FFS!!!!

I also was specific with the dealer to secure the front number plate by screw near the middle as the Swiss plate is much smaller and I did not want screw holes left on the front when the Swiss plates go on. They did screw the front plate on using holes nearer the centre - but they screwed the bloody plastic number plate holder to the bumper by the extremities so I will still have holes - FFS!

Not to mention the crap my wife has got me taking back, a manky used petrol mower, a new TV cabinet a million bottles of shampoo!

What was a lovely clean car is not filthy and covered in dead insects. On the plus it is a really nice drive, once it is run in and empty of crap I think I will be able to cane it to my hearts content.

2 questions for the troops:
Is it possible to get the folding mirrors to fold on lock, I have searched pretty hard with no joy.
The new Coldplay album is not found by gracenote so it appears as unknown artist / unknown album - anyone else have this?

Love the finger writing whizzy thing on the iDrive controller. The tech is years ahead of my old C Class Mercedes. I love all the driving style analysis - I know it is Bobbins really.

I was really looking forward to a European road trip taking the car back home but it just seems to be a let down - everything has conspired against me from the flight home, to public transport, to the dealer pickup, to the Coldplay album.....

Mind you, I a m currently enjoying a nice steak and some French wine before the final leg tomorrow.

And relax....

PS and I never noticed BMW use horrible orange bulbs for the front indicators - what is that about?
Glad to hear you got your car but I mate a lot of 'FFS' utterances as I read your post - what were the dealership staff thinking with the numberplate? I feel your pain with the eurostar bog door too - I have had a similar experience!

Out of interest when did you order your car? My brother ordered a 335xd touring back in January and still hasn't taken delivery yet... he's having fun and games with the dealership over the delay...

Really, that is a very long time. We ordered mid March and were told it would be July/August but 6 weeks of that was the extra faff of ordering a LHD car to be delivered in the UK. The salesman had mentioned delays due to production being shifted to meet demand from Asia.

My latest FFS while reading the documents is the 3 years warranty is 2 years Europe wide and the 3rd is UK only if the car is registered in the UK, which of course ours will not be - never mentioned before! FFS :;

Have you read that the right way? My warranty did as you say as well but nuance is that the warranty still works overseas in the 3rd year but you claim once back in the UK. Same for the extended warranty. Actually, thinking about it I'm not actually sure how yours would work! I shall feck off quietly..

Coldplay? Really? Chris Martin, he who writes 'lyrics' like a 15 year old adolescent. What a cockend.

Worth just adding that you should hold on first press. Pressing a second time after locking the car disables the alarm motion sensors (or at least it does in every other BMW I've had). The blinking LED on the underside of the rear view mirror illuminates when this happens. Its handy when you deliberately want to disable motion sensitivity but you wouldn't want to do it accidentally.

Thanks for that, I've been disabling the motion sensors every time I lock the car it would seem biggrin

I'm slowly discovering various features on the car (never knew the back window would open separately to the boot), and almost hit the 1000 mile mark! smile

Though I can't suss out what fittings (hole) just by the rear passenger grab handles are for, then have a sprung plastic cover over the front like some sort of fitting should go in. There's also two in the boot either side. Anyone got an easy answer?

Yes!

The ones in the boot are for the cargo net when it's in the standard position, the other two further forward are for when you have the seats down and the cargo net has been moved to mount on the back of the folded down seats.

Very clever really but not very obvious.

How can the F10/11 have the 535d as rwd and the 6 series rwd only whereas F30/31 is Xdrive only?

Seen quite a few now and the x drive does add a visible increase in height over the wheels v rwd only.

Also does adaptive suspension really turn the 335d into the m sport suspension it should have from the off?

Its really close to the end of the big discounts for this car and I'm still humming and haring about what to do.
Wife says if you want one buy a £15-20k one instead for now run it 3 years and then get a f31 335d for £20k in 3 years time - I think false economy but if its evolved and its rwd it would be quicker ... Though lacking economy and the old model.

The deal was always ending end of June so the plan was to hold off until the end regardless

Well if you are going for it, you need to be talking numbers now on a specific stock car that can be registered before the end of June

That's they way you'll get the end off quarter 'deal'

Walking in on the last day of the month with a long list of requirement meaning a factory order isn't going to work!

Drive the deal states orders up to end of June are in not a delivery/stock car.

That's as maybe, dealers, ie the suppliers are interested in the here and now, especially with the end of quarter 2 approaching

That's what will get you the best deal without the use of a 3rd party

I had an email yesterday morning saying that the BMW deals need to be placed by the 21st to secure the deals by the end of June.

Edit: That was from Drivethedeal.com by the way.
