That seems like an insane amount of car for the money. I'd have one if I didn't need something more practical.

Agree on the age bit....love it more these days than when it came out. Seems to have got better over time and not showing it's age at all.

Just a couple more pictures after another layer of wax....

SO what do you think on wheels.....Was going to get them redone in anthracite or maybe change them. There are two styles I've been offered....A CSL type wheel that fits the standard tyres...Love this type wheel but not sure it will suit the 6....Or a later style BMW wheels but these would need 15mm spacers to fit and although I had spacers on my M3 not sure the 6 is the sort of car that needs them and I don't want the wheels to look all boy racer poking out of the arches so will probably just refurb....

Recently sold my 645 coupe - lovely car but its needs a louder exhaust to release the V8!!

If you are looking at an auto, make sure you floor it and keep it held down all the way to 90 - look for a hard change on the box - can happen in any gear but usually higher and can throw an error/limp home mode. You can reset by stopping and turning on and off tough. This will be the mechtronics control giving up - approx £2500 repair for a reconditioned box. You can drive around it with a slight lift or not floor it in the first place, but its not going to fix itself. You might find it also 'hunts or hesitates' at a constant 37-40mph. Forums are undecided if a gearbox oil change will cure it as they are meant to be sealed for life but that can cost around £400. Mine was OK but i did find one that i test drove with the hesitation so walked away.

R.E. wheels - I loved the standard ellipsoid wheels myself but changed to the style 92 after a couple of cracks. I was lucky enough to find some in original condition with the polished face rather than the flat silver paint after being refurbed.

Expensive blooming Run Flats did my head in, especially when linked to the cracked alloys frown

Second wheel for me.

If that was anthracite it would be perfect.

I've rather fallen I love with style 172 alloys as fitted to various M-sport E60/E61s. Not sure if they'd work on a 6 or not.

I thought about CLS style wheels for my 645 but had the same concern - I didn't think they would be suited to such a solid/heavy/substantial looking car. I happened to spot a 6 in the classifieds the other week (it's maybe still there) that had them fitted and tbh they looked out of place. I have the standard Ellipsoid (121?) style wheels and I like them, they just need a decent refurb. See here for a list of all BMW wheels.

Lovely car btw; got mine a year ago and exactly the same spec but dark blue with nappa cream interior. Is that an umbrella in the passenger footwell?

Lot of car for the money!! Congrats OP.

I was earmarking 8k for a treat car (E36/E46 M3, Porsche Boxster S) but not really considered a 6er. I bet the cabriolet is waftastic.

I love the 2 standard style of wheel that BMW put on the 6......but what has surprised me is that not many do on the BMW forums.......I will probably just get mine refurbed in Anthracite........

Yes, it's a BMW umbrella...Think it was an option that not many took up in the UK....

I had to see if the deep dish CSL wheel would suit the 6 so here's a photo shop...I didn't think they would suit but now I've done this I rather like them...

Looks good................My M3 had Tein springs but can not bring myself to lower the 6 due to the nature of the car..Don't want to spoil that ride....

Think these look better than the CSL style ones.

Agree regarding the ride although I don't think it's that good anyway.
In my experience the eibach springs give a good ride.
Certainly did on my M3 and 840
