Hi again, still hunting for a x5, going to look at this one today. See the car in the flesh, chat with owner, the car is going to have its MOT, and I reckon I will get the AA to inspect whatever I plan on buying.

Any major issues with 06 diesels at this age/mileage.

Thanks,

I will report back on the car after viewing.

There are loads of 2005/6 cars out there for £7k or less.
Why spend nearly £10k on one? That's madness imho.

£13k will get you into an E70 X5, I would pay the extra or pay £3k less.

I see your point, I had thought about the new shape, this one is very close to my house so going to look at it anyway. It does seem at the top end of the price scale, plan to look at a few others priced like you say closer to 7. Even if the 06 is immaculate still not worth more than 8k I would say. I have been emailing another seller about his car, he has owned for 7 yrs and appears to have looked after it, he is asking 8k, although it has a Remus quad exhaust on it? Not sure that's right on a diesel x5.

Minor detail but if you decide to go for the older shape, just remember that post 22nd March 06 (i.e.the vast majority of 06 plates, and all 56's and onwards) you're paying £485 road tax.
Before that (i.e. up to '55 plate, and a few 06's) it's more like £280 ish.

I know it's only £200 a year, but you'd be amazed how many people seem really bothered by that!

Good point about the road tax, that has actually put me off a 06 model, don't fancy £485 a year, especially when the cars value will keep dropping over time and the tax will remain ridiculously high, pre March 06 it is then.

Don't forget, that doesn't preclude an 06 registered car. Just needs to have been registered between 01/03/06 and 21/03/06 (only a 3 week window, but still).

Noted, although this one is in the high bracket, so prob not the best buy as there are a lot more out there. That tax would get to me every year when it came to pay it.

I see some of these, with M5 clocks fitted, is that someone chavving them up or was it an option?

If you mean rev counter etc, I believe that is fitted to the 4.6 and 4.8is models. Could be wrong though.

Yeah the 'is' models got the M dials with the rev lights. Very cool.

Funnily enough, following my hip replacement (Jesus when did I get old), we are going to get rid of the WRX and get something higher off the ground and auto.

3.0d facelift X5 has come into the radar.

Is there anything in particular we need to be aware of? I think I'd like the Pan roof but otherwise and not too bothered.

I presume thye have ISOFIX points as standard?

Panoramic roof/sun blind motor can fail (ours did).

Sat Nav is a decent option:

In my humble opinion.

An 06 higher tax can be a great purchase at the right price. I bought mine in March and negotiated about 5 years worth of tax difference. I will have to sell it cheaper but what will it be worth in 5 years anyway?

As it was harder to sell it's fully loaded - Sat Nav, Freeview TV, DVD Headrests, non wood trim ( looks much more modern IMHO). Lower miles 75k ( compared to the same priced lower tax).

Plus .... Get one with new tyres or there's another £750 plus.

Come October you will be able to pay monthly, £40 a month doesn't sound so bad.

Glasses Guide used to say "if no full communications pack deduct £1800 from value"
The silver car does not have it.

Your right no comms pack, although it does not quite command the same price these days, I have had it on 2 previous cars, and never really used it. I am going to hold off for the right car. Although the silver one could be sold for 8k ish I reckon.
