The engine note - strange one this - it sounds fantastic - I have no idea what is going on to create the noise - but the net effect is it sounds great - the car going up the road sounds unique and distinctive again in a nice way.
If it sounds great then great, but its synthetic and played through the hifi and from the you tube clip I've seen/heard it's similar to the tune they play in my 6 series which, as it happens, also sounds great.

Whilst I do not dispute what you are saying it does not explain why it actually sounds great from the outside as it passes you by/drives up the road.

I have never heard a 3-pot like that before... much sound fettling going on with pipes and valves I expect. smile

To see the i8 in a realistic setting like that is quite refreshing - get a sense of proportion/scale that you don't get with press/web-config shots. Lovely looking thing, but as with all concept cars it gets ruined a little when you slap UK plates onto it frown

Agreed! It looks like it should be parked in front of a spaceship on the surface of the moon and not outside a regular house!

I love it.

official delivery date of November 8thbiggrinbounce
When did you order yours..? Have you gone for the £12k impulse package..?
Orderd March Aprill time can't remember without looking. Yeah got the impulse pack which dealer told us would mean earlier delivery along with other things.
Yes I was told the same, all first production cars have to have the £12k Impulse Pack...! Which doesnt sound good value to me.! When I got one of the very first R8's I had to have a few options to scure early delivery but they were reasonable value.! I just cant see £12K....... Earliest dilivery with out the impulse Pack is Feb next year... grumpy

Hardly. Why not just hand your dealer a £12k bung to get it earlier? Same difference. People that pay a premium to secure a car earlier to the tune of £12k are hurting everyone in the long run as more and more dealers will start to do it.

Incidentally there is 1 on Autotrader now for £137k that is 'available now'.

I was quoted delivery in June/July.... I wish it was Feb 2015 without this £12k 'pack'!

The 12k Pulse pack does get you pretty much a full spec car... I don't see it as bad value?

The car is pretty much fully spec'd anyway. The main options Impulse adds are

Halo 2150
Drivers Assist 1490
Harman speakers 895
Alloys 1380
Frozen White 1350

Totals 7265

If you wanted Grey then the total is 5915. That means you're paying about 6 grand for the "Exclusive" extras. Those are:

Pure Impulse Club
Velour floor mats
Logo on calipers
Logo on door sills
Logo on headrests
Leather engine cover
Ceramic gear lever

That would have to be one hell of a Club to warrant the cash. So, no, it's not a "bargain", but each tp their own.

The car is pretty much fully spec'd anyway.? Do we know if this pure impulse club transferable.? I'm sorry but I just think when BMW launch and promote a new flagship model for £100k... But in reality it's 12% more than that... Sharp practice at its best IMO...! nono
