So it looks like i might need to give the box on my alpina some attention. but those boys at alpina like to change things and in this case its no different - the standard ZF spec has been adapted specifically for the alpina

im getting slip codes which clear but then come back again after a few weeks. shifting can be a little lurchy at times but no strange noises so far

i did have the box oil flushed and replenished less than 500 miles ago and the car has done 66k miles

on the one end i can get the oil flushed and replenished again or i can get the TC overhauled or i can get a gearbox overhaul...

problem is that the range of solutions is massive and so are the costs. but its also one of those where "while im in there...."

so what should i do?? im thinking getting the TC replaced by the likes of a1 premier in biggleswade???

How do you judge that it is the TC that is responsible for the fault? You don't want to be in the position of replacing and finding the thing still isn't running right

I'd find a decent auto box specialist & let them diagnose it. These things are too complex to guess with. From your description it sounds more box than TC TBH.

It's definitely either the TC or the Valve body, or could be both, as your symptoms appear fairly similar to what my 7 experienced, albeit with another 100k...

Have a chat with Nino, he's a specialist with these boxes (if you're near to biggleswade, he's close to you), unfortunately until it's out of the car, no-one can fully diagnose what's going on.

If the TC isn't the problem, apart from the seals hardening in the box which causes pressure issues, this is normally the offending item in the valve body which causes the issues.

There's too many other guys on the alpina register forum that have had similar probs to mine and have had a confirmed TC failure diagnosed by pros for me to discount it as the most likely culprit...

they are a known weakspot and in alpina guise they seem to fail quite predictably
