Would anyone else be interested in this? They have them for Porsche, Mini, Ferrari, Lamborghini, TVR etc.

I know we have the general Classic forum but it would be good to have a specific little BMW one here I think.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Only question would be where to draw the line for 'Classic', E9, E12, E24, E28, E30, E31, E39 ....

That's always the (understandable) kicker. In my mind when I think about 'classic' BMWs I'm thinking about E30 / E34 and back.

Sounds good. I'd say pre-2000? So E36, E39 and older for example. I see the E46 as still a fairly modern motor still.

I guess you could put a blanket criteria, for example "More than 10 years old" or "Model end of production more then 10 years ago".

Yep, good idea. Anything pre-enclosed headlights* IMO i.e. up to E30/31/32/34

'* Pop-ups & Z1 to be included as classics too

...introduction of sub-forum postponed indefinitely as potential members could not agree on what to include ...

Right - for insulting me, tell me this - who do I contact at Mission Motorsport to donate a free entry to 2 x 30 min races on Silverstone GP circuit on 20th Sept ? The car must be a 'saloon' .

Thanks

Why not!? I think it'd be a better use of a forum than the exclusive CSL sub-forum.

^^^ I'll agree with you here, but probably disagree in there if the topic comes up wink

Indeed! 3 posts in there in the last month...one of which was me and one of the others was reviving a six month old thread!

^Ha ha. biggrin

I've started a thread in 'Website Feedback'. smile Seems to me sensible to replace the CSL forum, especially in view of the fact that an M Power forum already exists. Is the CSL such a hallowed car?

FWIW, I'd be counting classics as:

E30, E34, E32 and anything before. That's how RealOEM splits it (it also includes the E31/8er as classic too).

E36, E38 and E39, although getting on a bit I'd still count as 'modern'.

I agree with that split.

However if/when the new forum arrives I'm going to change my mind and say that a 55 plate 320d SE Auto is defo a classic or you can all just fk right off.

So then, any chance this is going to happen?
