After searching for a suitable family my wife and I decided on an x3 - picked it up yesterday very pleased with it, it has all the usual options a BMW normally comes with 3 litre diesel, 2006 covered 80k.
Very pleased with it drives nice has a bit of grunt, not too many 3 litres about and got it for a very good price however it needs a very thorough valet, I cleaned the outside yesterday and already it looks better however interior has a couple of marks/minor stain on the dash which I need to tackle so got a few couple of questions..
Can someone recommend a decent interior cleaning product?
The only minor downfall for my mrs is the plastic bumpers - is it possible to spray these/colour code?

Welcome to X3 ownership - I have a 45k mile '54 3.0i petrol.

BMW do their own interior cleaner but it didn't do much when I wanted to clean some small marks on my old 130i and I ended up ignoring them as they weren't that noticeable. It might be worth looking at a valeting supplies website as their stuff would be a more professional quality I guess.

I assume your's is not a black one (most seem to be) so the plastic would contrast.
From my varied experience, the BMW plastic trim is better quality than most (way better then our Minis) but not sure how practical or durable painting them would be to be honest.

Thanks David - think I will pop to local motor shop at the weekend and get some decent interior cleaning bits.
No it's a black one so the black plastic is ok for now but would like to get it sprayed/colour coded properly at some point!

I use engine cleaner mixed 10:1 or All Purpose Cleaner from the supermarket, around £1 a bottle, and mix that around 3:1.

Better than all the dedicated stuff.

I'm really not sure I would bother, personally.
Might look worse than the plastic?
Maybe get a damaged bit from a breaker and get it sprayed to see what it's like?
