Hi all.

My Z4 2.5i is need of gearbox oil and filter change. Called my local BMW stealership and they quoted £340 for 9 litres of oil and a replacement filter :O. I know ZF do filter and oil kit but I cant find someone who sells it online. Are there any other alternatives?

You probably wont be able to get 9 litres of oil back into the box that's an empty fill which you wont achieve due to the torque converter & oil cooler plumbing etc scratchchin probably nearer 4-5 for a service its also not that straight forward to refill the gearbox due to the fact it does not have a dipstick and this needs to be carried out under certain conditions i.e car level and transmission fluid at set temperature speak to http://www.eurocarparts.com regarding oil BMW's own pricing on that oil is a joke quite frankly frown however the oil filter and sump gasket from BMW would be a better route/choice IMO

Hi. I am aware of this. My local mechanic will be carrying out the work as he can lift the car up and ensure it is level. The oil filter inc gasket and magnets on its own is £115 from BMW.

Assuming it's the same as on my N52 E91, the official ZF kit is around £200-250 IIRC. I was quoted £350 +VAT fitted by local indy.

Didn't seem too bad to me. Bear in mind it's a replacement 'box sump as the filter's magnetic and built in.
