BMW do an app that has a 0-62 timer on it, quite difficult to be accurate with a stop watch but not a bad ballpark figure.

How do I get this app?
I had it on my M3, available for iphone/itouch, M laptimer IIRC you need the apps thingy on your BMW as well, but I guess you've got that.

Also has G meter etc...

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bmw-m-laptimer/id6...
Got apps thingy on my car but never found a use for it probably because I have an android.

Just to update this 2000 miles in and it's getting quicker, traction off the line is nuts (I'm used to RWD) the take off from say 20mph is very good.

AWD does give you the confidence to floor it early as well, I'm warming to it.

Just did launch control 0-62 5.0 seconds dead in the wet recorded on the M lap timer app.

I did a few others but strangely it didn't record a time, I need to work out why.

Does lauch control put excessive wear on the tyres?

Well I guess so! It's very wet up here today but there was no detectable wheel spin.

This has made for an interesting thread for me because we are currently considering a 435d and I never really got on with my E92 M3 unless you kept it above 6k rpm so its good to read different opinions but I just wish you could buy a car that has epic low down shove and a great top end too but it seems that is never going to happen so you have to choose the characteristic you prefer the most it seems.
Are you looking to replace the 330i with the 435d or is this as well as the 330i?

I'm still waiting to find out what company car my wife will get before I can sell my 330i. If we get the choice of some family car for her then the 330i will go in favour of something manual and with a better power to weight ratio. I'm not sure whether I want a manual N/A 130i with LSD or an M135i without though.

No but the drivehshafts and gearbox take some pain with 640nM going through them!! That's more than an Enzo!

The 435d will replace the Audi TTS if that's what we end up going for...so stuck with the 330i for a bit! I agree with you its a tough choice regards 130i with a LSD or M135i without and as you know from experience the LSD makes all the difference if you really enjoy having fun both nice cars though those two.

Why not just fit an LSD to the M135i?

Yes I think that is a good idea and Chris Harris seems happy with its application on the M235i.

Because it's easy to get an £1800 LSD under the radar with the missus on a £10k 1 series. It's less simple on a £30k M135i.

I did another launch yesterday in the dry and got 4.5 to 62 (timed on the M lap timer) so not sure of the accuracy of the device vs. real timing equipment like a Vbox. I also only had 1/4 of fuel in and I'm beginning to wonder if that road isn't a little downhill! hehe

But it is so utterly boring as it does it, effective but not exciting.

There was PH'ers 130i with LSD for sale at Birds but it's SOLD. Worth keeping an eye out. I've seen a couple of M135i for sale with Quaife too.

You miss the different engine characteristics of the M3 then I am guessing a little.

I'm sure the M3 is better but the 335d is a hell of a car for much less money.

It just needs time.

GOD I miss my RS4, but I do love the brutal torque of the 535d.

Yes I agree the 335d is an awesome bit of kit and for me personally for a daily driver I would prefer the 335d to the M3, we are currently mulling over a 435d but struggling with the £50k price tag with a few options on it...its big money for a 4 series I reckon but like the 335d they offer an alluring mix of performance and economy and a friend of mine has a 435d and he is over the moon with it.

I bet the 535d is a quality bit of kit thumbup I notice you do similar miles a year to us and its one of the reasons we are considering swapping from petrol and back to diesel.
