Yeah I was told the same two weeks ago. Delivery for Mid October but its now End of December/Jan because of the bloody brakes :-(
If I knew it would get it months earlier I would be tempted to just ditch the brakes. Are they really that much better??

I've driven with and without and for me I'd certainly go for with, but that said I always like very impressive brakes the standard items are fine but I'd want the best standard items I could get.

Also end of the day the stopping distance is shorter so you could actually avoid a frontal incident by having them.

...and the blue callipers matches the estriol blue metallic smile

But seriously, it would be an easier second sale for a 335d if you have the m sport plus pack on. I have though about removing the brakes to get the car early, but providing the stealer can sort me out with a loaner then I'm willing to wait.

Have you spoken to the dealer about a loan car? When I ordered my new car I was assured that the new car would be delivered before my current car lease ended (on a Merc), now this is looking very unlikely.

I see the big discounts have come to an end now - a shame as last weekend I took my brother's recent F31 335d out... a big spec car with M Plus, adaptive etc. and thought it was an awesome piece of machinery. If I thought I could still get the £11k discount he did, I'd be strongly tempted.

Anyone waiting for one should be bloody well impressed by it.

Tell me about it - my own fault really being far too ponderous has meant that the deals are now all gone.

If only it could have been RWdD 335d

Isn't the stopping distance limited by the tyres?

Yes confirmed with the manager by email, providing you have ordered directly through the stealer and give them your situation they should keep you sweet, including absorbing the nov price rise if applicable.

I don't doubt that the upgraded brakes are better than the standard offering but I suspect it's nowhere near the marked difference you get with (say) ceramic brakes; obviously it's always nice to have the reassurance of good brakes but having driven BMW's for a number of years I've always found their standard set-up to be absolutely fine for normal road use. However, if you want everything else the M-Sport Plus Pack offers it's undeniably good value and if thats the case it's probably just a matter of gritting your teeth and waiting!

I expect the discounts will be back. Drive the Deal seem to remove them for a few weeks occasionally. It may just be an attempt to get buyers. If there is a permanent 23% off these cars, there is little urgency to place an order. They do seem to make the most of these gaps by sending out urgent warnings to place an order now, in the days before temporary removal.

Indeed and the BBK isn't that good in terms of feel and action so the standard ones can't be up to much.

You may be right as Broadspeed are still offering decent discounts on BMW's; probably not quite at the level they were giving a month or two back - and their discounts have always lagged slightly behind those from DTD - but nevertheless around 20% off an F31 335d is not to be sniffed at IMO! Therefore, if you want one it's still not a bad time to buy; you could wait to see if DTD reintroduce offers on BMW's at a similar level to earlier in the year (or perhaps even better!) but those that insist on waiting for the absolute best deal will probably end-up never buying one!

Sounds like you're still not that keen on the M-Sport braking system then! However, how are you getting on with the car as a whole; from previous posts I detected a few misgivings when you first got it so in general are you now bonding with it or is it one of those cars where gut feel is you're never going to make it? Hopefully not the latter but if it is and you're anything like me it will probably end in putting it all down to experience and moving on within 12 months!

It is a very good car of that there is no doubt, lots to like about it but I don't like the brakes I can't seem to get used to them (especially the long pedal travel and soft feel) and I don't think much of the seats.

Time will tell and I need to stop moaning.

How is the economy going and are you starting to contemplate the Hartage remap c360-380bhp

Average is 35-40mpg but that includes long motorway runs, no I won't tune it I'd rather have some better seats!

Guess the car may still be loosening-up but to be honest those fuel consumption figures don't sound fantastic if they reflect long motorway runs. I'd have thought that sort of running would be as good as it gets for fuel consumption and hence anything under 40 is slightly disappointing in those circumstances IMHO; my E92 335i will do mid-30's on a motorway run providing I stick in the 80's....

Perhaps but unless you're not worried about keeping your licence you can't drive like that on motorways. Only Wills knows to what extent those mpg figures reflect a leaden foot but 40mpg is 20% down on the claimed combined figure and 35mpg is 30% adrift; those are big shortfalls in my book and if nothing else appear to kill the myth that these 3 litre diesels will give you over 40mpg even when thrashed....

Edit to add:
I would however say that our E91 335d will do high 30's on a run and therefore I would expect low 40's from an F31 in the same circumstances!

Wills care to share what MPG you achieved in the previous very nice cars on the same routes you achieved so as to benchmark
