So, I've advertised her (PH & AT) for the last few months and had 1 phone call from an interested punter, but they never rang again. I now have it sat on a forecourt for a car dealer to try and sell for me, making me lose a bit more money and them gain a bit of money for not a lot really.

Is the market just slow? Is it just too much money for a private sale? Or is it something else?

I'd suggest it being white, and a manual might reduce the number of possible punters.

Nice car though. I also have one!

Good luck

No one wants a manual, with no nav and no metailc paint I'd guess!

Not at that price anyway

outstanding finance would put me off the car as well

can you not arrange a loan to clear the finance off?

Outstanding finance is always a turn off as well. Despite reassurances it will be cleared.

Unfortunately it would appear to be somewhat over priced. Look at the AUC site and cars start at around 24/25K, some younger than yours. Given BMW AUC stick around 2/3K on their prices to cover the AUC elements and simply being '(st)(d)ealers', that lends some weight to the argument that you might want to consider reducing the price for a private sale to go quickly.

Do you need to sell it for a certain price to clear the finance?

I'm not convinced the finance is a deal breaker, as I stated I would be happy to clear it at a dealer, but it is a consideration.

The price has dropped a bit since I started looking at selling. Maybe I'll have to drop it a little, as mentioned. Cheers.

Yeah, but I wont drop it too low either as I'd rather not lose out too much if possible, hence having it up with ONO.

6k miles with nav and metallic - and give or take the same price as yours.

1. Overpriced. A BMW AUC can be had for the same/less money.
2. See 1.

Sorry, but price needs dropping - perils of new car buying.

Yeah I'm starting to agree, also the price new with better rates on PCP is a factor.

Have you tried We Buy Any Car?
I'm only saying that as I recently priced my E89 Z4 up on there and they were offering me almost as much (within £100's) as I was going to sell it for privately.

Sorry to say I agree chum. I got a deal on my new 535d three months ago which made it a LOT cheaper than buying a year old one - 4% APR and £12,000 off list for a start.

I second this suggestion, my old man got for his 61 plate Mercedes £2000 more than the dealer offer with them, after their transaction fee. He didn't try private, but there was nothing at the eventual price comparable for sale on A/T
Price was above the highest trade in value on CAP and Glass Guides and 500£ more than the next best offer he received.

WBAC offered £19k three months ago! A dealer offered £21k, but at the time prices were higher.

As above, it's the cost of buying one new. Given the deals floating around on them it would be hard for anyone buying privately to justify the finance options there versus the dealer support buying new.

If you want rid you'll have to drop the price I'm afraid. Hopefully you got one of the good deals in the first place so it's swings and roundabouts in terms of the money you'll lose. If you didn't get a decent deal then you've been unfortunate.

You've put the price as brand new in the ad as a comparison - but you and I both know you wouldn't pay anywhere near that for one. Anyone in the market for an m135i will probably have the same conclusion.

I don't know why.

I would much rather buy a car privately with outstanding finance on it, far less of a risk imho.

Mighty be worth trying WBAC again, Stan. I understand their prices vary. Certainly, their final figure had increased from when my old man did the first online quote.

Its also a lot of money for a private sale.

Punters with that sort of disposable are happy to pay a premium and buy from a dealer.

The pictures are good, with the exception of the one that captures Poundstretcher in the background and also shows a for sale sign in the back window. Somehow these features make it less aspirational.
