Hi all,

I have fitted a towbar before on a mk4 golf and must say it was pretty simple mechanically and electrically with a dedicated wiring kit that just plugged into the rear light clusters.

Im looking to fit a towbar to my 1 series to carry a cycle rack and am a bit scared of even using a westfalia dedicated wiring kit. Has anyone done without too much head scratching or this or found an easier vehicle specific kit ? Any tips?

Thanks

Mark

Ps its this westfalia kit

Yup.

I went on to PFJones and ordered a Witter detachable and Westfalia dedicated wiring and fitted myself.
As PFJ sells lots of different towbars and wiring kits for the 1 series, i downloaded the fitting instructions for ALL of them so i could collate the information.

Took me about 3 hours, with many stops for tea and re-reading of instructions. Actually quite easy and straightforward, but like you i was nervous!

As verysideways may recall, my wife refused to let me put a towbar on the 130 so I ended up buying a Freelander and then the X3.
