I've spent all this week excited as I had arranged to look at someones E46 325i (which looked lovely) on Saturday (tomorrow) but they've just phoned to say its sold. Booo!

Therefore i'm currently scouring the interwebs for another one without much success.

Does anyone want to sell me theirs?

I have £3000 & I'm after a 2002 upwards, sub-80,000 mile standard(ish) E46 325, 328 or 330, manual, petrol, one lady owner, etc...

Failing that does anyone have any recommendations on where would be a good starting point for classifieds (done the usual autotrader, ebay, pistonheads, gumtree, etc)

Cheers biggrin

There are a couple for sale up my way (Edinburgh) that seem not too bad, although having sold a good 330 last month, you may not get the car you have described for 3000,

Yikes! I'm all the way down in Kent so bit of a trek to get to Edinburgh! I have realised that i may have set my price a bit low - Went to look at a 325Ci listed for £3000 today and it was a dog! I've seen a lovely looking low mileage, looked after 330Ci, for £4000 so i'll have a look at that and probably up my limit a bit smile

After previously having one, i would also avoid, colder, snowy conditions = more salt on the roads! Damper more humid conditions.

which takes its toll on the underside if your not careful, resulting in very seized bolts etc

I have a 2002 330 Ci manual, which is a second/weekend car in our household - I keep thinking of selling it due to lack of use. No known mechanical problems, and a load of money spent last year - 4 new tyres, new OEM front wing painted and fitted (rust!), rear brake overhaul etc. Surprised that £3000 doesn't buy something half decent. I wasn't expecting mine would be worth anywhere near that much. Which was one of the reasons I was thinking of keeping it - they seem so cheap these days, that it almost seems silly to get rid of it smile

I think what Blitz means is that Scotland is generally a bit colder (especially far north) than most parts of England. Therefore winters would generally be harsher and as a result there would be salt applied to the roads for a greater length of time each year.
As we know salt is one of the main killers of British cars as it causes them to rust prematurely. More salt = more rust

I went to Cuba a few years back and was pleased to see LOADS of big 50's yank cars looking fresh as a daisy (obviously apart from the smashed up panels most of them seem to have). Theres no way they would have survived this long over here with regular use...

Having said that, Scotlands climate isn't that far different from England in the grand scheme of things (when compared with say Norway/Sweden), so the comment may have been a little extreme.
