As the title suggests are the quoted MPG figures anything like achieveable?

What do you get?

I am considering replacing my e39 5er with a current shape F30 320 i or D & am interested.

My father went from E39 525i Touring Auto (circa 20mpg knocking about, 25mpg long term average, 30mpg on a run)

Now running F31 320i Touring auto, circa 30mpg knocking about, 35mpg average, 40mpg on a run, so looking at about 10mpg up across the board over the E39 (though these figures will probably improve as it's only done 2.5k mikes)

Diesel would give a further 10mpg I guess

Check out honest john real world mpg figures. For modern diesels I'd assume 80% of official combined figure, best case scenario.

No matter how I drive my F30 320d the average never dips below 46mpg, up to 55mpg on a decent run, owned it 14 months. Just had 1st service at 17k miles, £180 at BMW Derby.

I have a 320i Sport.

Around town / short runs 25-28 mpg

Motorway / long run 35 mpg, possibly 40+ using Ecomode

I have a 320d efficient dynamics. Measured mpg over the last 10 months and 24k has been 59 mpg. The last 4 tankfuls have given 60mpg.

You're welcome. E39 is a difficult act to follow...

My 330d M sport auto has done 44.6 mpg over 17,500 miles thus far, mixture of commuting and A roads.

Would expect 55 from the four pot diesel surely?

Tell me about it.

I tried the e60 & F10, but wasn't impressed in comparison to the e39 530 sport I tried & bought.

The F30 looks good in the flesh & on paper, just need to try one now.

Just checked the details on Honest John & now find that the 328 is actually just as economical on paper as the 320........ Decisions decisions.

Having done about 25k, I have averaged 55mpg (about 60-65% motorway miles). easily averages 62mpg on a decent run at 75mph. never goes below 40 in the city traffic
