IOS 8 / BMW Bluetooth connectivity issues
Discussion
Not sure if any of you are having problems with IOS 8 or the I Phone 6, if you are I hope this helps, if not ignore me.
I have a 2014 F13 M6. When i added my I Phone 6 on Friday all seemed fine, until i tried to use the phone. I experienced 2 issues, the good news is i resolved them.
Initially all seemed fine, however when i dialled out the call cut off after a few seconds. I deleted the phone from the car and re installed. On the second attempt the phone button on the steering wheel wouldn't work, and the "Active calls" on the menu was greyed out. You could make a call via the I drive and in car phone book however as I couldn't access either the active calls i couldn't cancel the call vie any controls in the car and had to cancel the call using the phone. In addition at this point pressing the "phone" button on the steering wheel simply redialled the current call number effectively making two calls at the same time.
I rang BMW and they=, being their ever helpful selves stated " we don't support IOS 8 or I phone 6 "
The solution. What worked for me was following.
1. Delete all paired phones from the car
2. Delete all personal settings via I drive
3. Switch the ignition off completely
4. Delete ALL paired bluetooth devices on the Iphone 6
5. Do a soft reset on the phone using teh power and home buttons
6. Re pair the phone to the car
Following the above steps sorted the problem and it all works perfectly. I hope this helps. Just don't tell BMW lol.

Not having much luck here. The method above allowed me to get as far as fully paring the phone including showing the phones features, that wasn't happenig before, but I still can't make calls- the signal strength indicator in the car is greyed out and flashing. Argh.

Im having the same issues with my E61 2009, Ive done a reset etc and managed to get it to work, however as soon as my phone is switched off/ on again the problem reappears
I also have an iPhone 5 which was working perfectly before IOS8 now when i make a call with that the sound goes off every 5 seconds or so and a tapping noise can be heard
It must be an Apple issue as the problem only occurred with the iPhone 5 after the IOS8 upgrade

58 E61 has the same issues. Tried the delete all and reboot, connects but won't make calls. I get the same issues as others, call bins after a couple of seconds.
Toggling between car and phone speaker seemed to work, but then after about a minute the bluetooth connection dropped.
Turned off airdrop as there is some chat that this is the problem, but that didn't work either.
Good old Apple, just like Microsoft they are releasing buggy software. Never happened in Jobs day.

The 6 seems to have a lot of issues but it did happen when jobs was there, too. Toggling between car and phone speaker seemed to work, but then after about a minute the bluetooth connection dropped.

I had the same issue with my 5 series and iPhone 6 - very annoying. After trying everything I had seen on blogs:
1.) I finally just erased my phone, set it up as a new phone
2.) Deleted all previous paired devices in my car
3.) Re-paired the newly configured phone
Problem seemed to have been related to restoring from the old device. Now everything is working just like it should even after powering off/on the phone.

Just to add to the picture, had no iOS 8 specific problems with my 6GC (using iPhone 5 (wifes phone), iPhone 5s (my old phone) and iPhone 6 (current phone)).
In the past I have had occasional issues where the phone would get stuck dialling, or BT Audio wouldn't output any sound. But this has been over the last 2 years I've owned the car, so not related to specific version of iOS or phone. Fortunately relatively rare.
