640d's look cheap now
Discussion
I was looking at this market back in late Spring. Prices seem to have taken a tumble, I am guessing as two year lease cars enter the retail market. £26k seems to get you a lot of choice on Autotrader.
I wonder if there will be something of an oversupply secondhand for this model in the longer term. I wonder how many private buyers of five year old used BMW coupes there are who want a diesel.

Personally I'm waiting for the gran coupe to come down further. I missed the chance on a lovely well specced example (35K) recently. Though ideally I'd want to spend less than 30K. Next year perhaps. They have depreciated a lot as has my current Z4 so I'm happy to wait a little longer and let someone else lose the big cash this time.
The GC despite the discounts on new cars seem to be holding up well. 2012 cars rarely come up for much below 40k - think the lowest I've seen is 35k in brown. In the next year I'll be selling mine and I'm wondering if the price will tumble but I don't think there were that many company cars out there due to the high list price/benefit in kind and it launched in a car buying depression.

I'm looking on the AUC site and apart from a couple of odd-spec cars, prices start around £28k.Holy crap there are a ton of them at the 25k+ price point.
I'm tempted - I don't think these will fall that much further that quickly.
A 330D/335D is barely any cheaper (the cheaper ones are all ancient E90 shape).
Even the old 635D is not a lot less at around 20-22k for cars that are 2 years older.

Cheaper ones are almost always SE though which look a bit gawpy at the front and have plain seats and rear too
Yes - they changed the front on the SE for the gran coupe and it looks much better. The plain seats do look awful too but I think a lot have either the dynamic pack which has sports seats or comfort seats fitted.REALIST123 said:
I think you'll find you can do better than that if you try, especially on a higher spec car. Certainly could a while ago.
That deal has just ended and is the maximum from a stock car. More discount can be had on extras too. I pushed as hard as possible and could not get them to budge, I used other dealers too.My deal was based on delivery before 31/12/14.
All deals for post that date have now changed as this was a 2014 incentive. An LCI model in 2015 means the deal is not so generous for 2015 cars.

The Head of Sales at my local dealer told me that the 6 series coupe has "become a problem" for them....they sell many more GC's and Cab's and hardly sell any Coupe's (this is new). The achilles of the Coupe has always been IMHO that the packaging means that on the odd occasion you'd want the rear seats they are not that different to a 3 series. GC has the looks and is a lot more practical.Cheib said:

I think you're being kind by describing them as not that different then a 3 series. IMO they are worse then the 3/4 series. I always liked the look of the current 6er (not so much the previous one), but many other cars i'd rather spend my money on (at or remotely near RRP) if it can't be a practical 4/5 seater coupe/convertible. On the other hand the GC (which I bought) made sense in comparison to the competition (although I still got a healthy discount).
