Thank you for that info smile

How did you get that??
Enter the reg number here: BMW Warranty Quotation System

This may give you the chassis number, if it doesn't you're buggered.

Enter the last 7 digits of the chassis number here: VIN Decoder

Hey Presto!

You CANNOT get an e90 325i or above for under 7k with pro nav (the centre console nav screen) under 100k miles.

I did look and I need around 16k for a decent specced 335i N54.

Ok I have found some more cars that might be suitable. Please let me know what you think. I have no idea what I am looking for spec wise ie which cars have xenons and which don't etc. Also does anyone have a vert? I was advised to avoid them, they have roof problems and are too heavy so I am told?

I take my Nan to hospital tomorrow then cleaning the car the day after and then hopefully taking to WBAC the next day or Next Monday. Payment only takes a day to clear apparently...

How much of a risk would it be to save over a grand and buy a 100k mile one like this?

shop around dude, there are some wildly over priced cars out there.

My buddy picked up a totally immaculate 2 owner 60k miles 330ci auto convertible with all the extras, bar sat nat for £2700 this summer

Far better prospect. Sod Pro Nav, just stick your smartphone to the dash.

Hope it's okay for nan at hospital.

Comments on your cars:-

I would want to save over 1k, if going over 100k mileage as that's near the point where mine started costing.

A vert and auto, I believe from the official figures (I have them in handbook) you will start to see a notable drop in performance and fuel economy. I think 330ci manual coupe is pick of the bunch and would, as I really don't like these autos, go for 325ci manual coupe next unless you really want a vert in which case still a manual.

If you are looking at E90 I tend to agree and think Nav screen is good, not only for the Nav itself, but to see the PDC images too and the I Drive information. Lowest 330i manual (saloon) I've seen on the AU Database was nearly 10k, so I assume out of your budget?

What's the hang up on nav in the car? Some of the cars the OP Is looking at are crazy prices, so many other options out there, I recently sold my e46 and then got the e90, I just feel he is going to spend too much on an (average) e46.

Spotting this thread is quite good timing.

I looked at 330cis before (probably this time last year) and found some nice examples with low mileage for sub £4,000 with passable ones going for £2,000-£3,000.

Looking again now, it's hard to find anything for those prices. Surely they can't be appreciating so soon into their lifecylces.

It doesn't help that I'm in the minority probably of preferring a non sport 330ci, but they seem to be few and far between frown

I personally would consider something like this, a lot of car for the money. Put some money in the bank for any mods/repairs.

Found this on a US site so is weight in pounds.

Weight Manual / Automatic
E46 325i - 3307
E46 330i - 3362
E90 328i - 3362 / 3428
E90 335i - 3582 / 3605
F30 328i - 3406 / 3461
F30 335i - 3571 / 3594

I'd say about 50kgs difference. Kudos to your driving skills that you can really feel it.

The only E92 I like is the 335i for starters. I have listened to a 330i e90 and it just sounds terribad compared to the e46 version - exhaust sound is a big part of my decision process. Having fiddled and spent nearly £600 on my current cars exhaust and not found anything good; either loud but drones or doesn't drone but is too quiet to even hear... I just want to buy something next that sounds great standard. I was even faffing about today taking all the sound deadening out of the boot of my car as I noticed the exhaust sound is "perfect" with the boot open.... but didn't work.

This is one of the reasons I like the 330ci it just sounds great standard.

Anyway the cheapest 335i with good mileage and Pro Nav is £14k.

Honestly I don't know why prices have risen for e46 so much over a year I am quite temped to go buy a 100k £1500 golf vr6, drill the airbox, run it for a few years, and put the remainding £5k into my business.

In fairness to the OP, lardy cars don't have to be heavy, just feel heavy.
I n fairness to you, I never noticed any real difference driving my brothers E90.

So it appears I am buying the one in the OP. Not for £6k though... will report back when the price is finalised.

I did a Glass' check on it and it says a dealer can sell it for £5850, they have offered it for less and still £8k for mine which is more than WBAC offer (only slightly).

But the main reason I am spending just over 5k for a 91k 53 330ci is...time. I simply don't have the time or even the will to travel 200+ miles to find one in good condition. Even though the high age and high mileage of this one...atleast it seems pretty mint from what I have seen in regard to rust, ride quality and engine noise.

I will replace all the tyres as soon as it is in my posession if Nankang are actually bad quality?

I also want to check the cooling system as everyone says it is bad (except Fox in his previous posts) especially at this mileage point and for piece of mind.

Oh, never be afraid to spend money if saves you some time. You can always earn more money, but time is harder to come by wink

Do check very carefully for the rust though when you see it!

Do these suffer from the rear subframe issues?

Check all the windows work, and try the total closure function. I would also be tempted to get the handbrake looked at, as they can often deteriorate, and could result in a full handbrake kit being required come MOT time. Also a good test drive checking for steering wobble under braking and acceleration. Hopefully it's the car you are after.
