Car will be replaced within the three years anyway.
It better had be - if you carry on at the current mileage the excess mileage charge is going to be hefty.
I'm on 7p a mile excess.

So if I go 20,000 over it will be £1400. Not too much of a worry. Just been a heavy quarter for travel.

100% correct, they plan covers the service when the car demands it, but not otherwise.

I am on a 30k a year lease, car is only three months old and 13k miles. I'll just run it to 19k then get it done. Car will be replaced within the three years anyway.
Are you doing locum pro bono work in the Outer Hebrides?

Yet you were distressed about an amount that is a quarter of that?

Not distressed - just a bit taken aback!

No point overservicing a lease car that you're not going to keep.

But that is some mega mileage - 200 miles a day (assuming 5 days a week use).

Well it's seven days a week use, 100 mile a day commute plus some visits to far flung UK with work.

So? You can buy it at registration, or, for a higher cost, within 60 days.

It might not make sense if you had 2yr low mileage lease, but for all other circumstances, as pointed out above, it's a no-brainer. As you're doing a lot of miles, it'll save you a small fortune.

ETA: Ah! I see the update.

I'll be doing a high mileage, so the service pack will only cover the first two services. Which you should be able to get for the same or less than the pack.

OP should get 3 services out of it, and it's only slightly more expensive than he was quoted for a single glorified oil change, so it's hard to see how he could better it.

If that's the case why are you concerned about the first sump full being in there for 20k miles ?
Lease car which will go back - I wouldn't even bother spending time to pick up the phone, let alone start a thread on it !
Get it done as and when it demands it.

That happened to one of the guys on a Mercedes forum I visit - he had the old ServicePlus scheme and got the usual "it needs pads and disks all round" call - the rest of it was just as you describe.
Yeh I seem to remember it was MB.

Why wouldn't you just service it when the computer tells you too?

My thoughts exactly especially on a car with such high daily use the oil will not be degrading due to age - I'd wager he might get well over 20k miles before it comes due. If this chap is doing 30k a year a lot will be on Motorway so that would increase the service interval as 8 speeder will be barely ticking over.

However if someone wants to change twice or more frequently than is needed so be it - good 2nd hand car to buy
