Anyone else have this problem. I am at 4k miles now and it has got steadily worse.

Is there a fix, it's driving me nuts....

Yes there is.....

I had the same thing on my 330.

The creaking is caused by the rubbers around the doors. Just try opening the drivers' window and the noise will disappear.

Get some silicone grease, spray a little on a cloth and wipe on the rubbers (that seal the door / door-shut).

I have these rattles. I don't notice them much on Swiss roads but on French or Italian roads the interior sounds like a bucket of old nail.

Dealer had the car for several days and stripped down the doors, replaced a few parts and adjusted the door glass so the pressure on the seal is not so great. Haven't been abroad to really test it but I am starting to hear a few noises again.

I think it is actually the plastic trim on the upper inside of the door, if you tap it with your fingers it sounds very hollow and rattley is is not solidly secured to the door.

Explaining all this in French is a pain, so I may just try and fix it myself with some felt tape when I can get around to it or book it in with a UK dealer at Christmas.

Please let me know if you get a solution, I am not sure silicone spray will do much as I don't think it is the glass against seal causing the noise myself.

Seems to be a BMW thing. My 1996 528i did exactly the same and it was said to be the window rubbers on that also.

I have had my dealer replace all door and window seals on my car at about 3 weeks. Solved 99% of the problem.

I would be cautious about adding silicone grease or anything else, so you aren't handing the dealer a 'get out of jail free' card.

Try the spray. It works. And silicone does not damage rubber.

Try googling on e90post and you'll see it is a common issue.

AutoGlym Vinyl & Rubber Care has always worked on mine. Spray onto cloth, wipe around the seals, voila, peace at last.
I had a SAAB that was 10 times worse than Beemer . If it worked on that it works on anything!

Many thanks for all the replies. Just to confirm, is it the door seals or the window seals making the noise? I have checked and if you wind down the window a bit the noise stops.

Thanks

This was exactly what happened to me. The creaking was doing my head in. Wind down the window and it disappears.

I wiped the silicone on the rubber door seals (as opposed to the window seals). The car is almost silent now.

Had this issue too- it's a combination of failure of door seals and window rubber guides. If the car is under warranty BMW should replace with new-reasonably sure that there is a SIB issued to this effect.

Hi, the car is two months old from brand new. Surely it's a design issue?

It's certainly a common fault but surprised its present in a brand new car. As it's under warranty I would get BMW to sort although in the first instance they will probably just want to clean and lubricate affected areas which will only be a temporary fix

Good luck

The daddy of door/window rubber seal rejuvenators is this stuff. BMW use it to fix these sorts of problems apparently.

My F31 was absolutely fine until I had it washed by a Waitrose valeter (not one of the Tesco/Sainsburys bucket of water in a trolley types). I think they used a load of polish which went onto the door seals. Made a hell of a racket. I decided to do nothing and after 2-3 months, all is quiet again. Only wash it myself now!

Guys, just a question - how can seals make a rattle noise? Surely they will squeak but not rattle.

On mine the dealer removed the interior plastic trim around the top of the window and drove it with the windows up, no noise. Then they re-attached the plastic and voila! Rattles were back.

My theory is that when the window is up it braces the top of the door. The door then rattles within the opening. Lube the seals and it can flex a little. Drop the windows and the door isn't braced and the noise stops.

My thoughts too.
