As title, I have been offered a back box, are they any good, I always wanted to bring out the noise, but don't want to sound like a knobhead.
Please don't advice alternatives as the exhaust is free, so comparisons would be pointless.

Hi,

It's impossible to tell if the item you have is good or bad. Powerflow will alter backboxes when they're 'made' for a customer - so if they want a quieter sound they can have it and similarly, a louder one can be made. Without you knowing 'how' this particular back box was made, it's a gamble. As you got/get it for for free, get it on the car and see if you like it ?!

I've had a Powerflow on my E39 530d Touring for well over 5 years now and no issues with it at all. It does come down to how 'good' the fitter is and some franchises are better than others.

Cheers, Dennis!

Thanks Dennis, I've had the offer of driving the 330 it's on now, if I like it we swap exhausts over.

They have a bad rep for using crap baffles / crap welding so good baffles fall out quickly.

Having said that I had a quiet system on a golf for 2 years and it never got any louder.

It's a straight through system, I would have had it, but the resonator box was in place, I was hoping mine would quiet it down a bit.
It sounds great when on the move, but it just sounds shagged when ticking over.

If you want to quiet your exhaust I can recommend getting a "Vibrant Ultra Quiet" this is a resonator available in 2.25, 2.5 and 3". Straight through also but some clever engineering. Great for killing exhaust drone!
