Found this story from a few weeks ago - £149k is the current value which is madness. http://www.driving.co.uk/news/news-used-bmw-i8s-se...

^ Not convinced, asking price doesn't equal selling price and certainly isnt the 'current value', it sounds like its based on nothing but a dealer's friend-of-a-friend retelling. I haven't seen any of the ones sold on AutoTrader, 2 of them have been reduced. I suspect in a few months as more cars are available anyone else wanting to try this will be making a loss.

Agreed, what they ask and what they get are two different things. Seems like there's a dealer cartel going on though as a lot are advertising at this value trying to talk it up.

Big worry with electric / hybrid cars is the technology will keep developing and 2014 models could quickly look old school.

I think that'll always be the case. They'll be like smartphones. Once they reach a certain age the latest software won't run on them and the old software won't support all the new features you want to add. They'll plummet in value like tech does.
