I also found the 330i E90 more fun than a stock 335i. The N53 engine is brilliant on fuel, although you won't get close to the claimed 39mpg combined.

Just as well given it's reputation (along with the N54), for eating coil packs, HPFP etc.

Go for a 2006 N52 engined 330i. I had an SE with the Sports suspension, seats etc. Great car, totally reliable and averaged 31mpg over six years. Definitely ditch the run flats though.

I shall soon!

By the way, my luck! the battery low sign came up when i went to petrol station just after buying it. I thought maybe it's been stood there for a while so a bit of drive would solve it. not sure if 13 miles were good enough. Will check again if it comes up.

If it keeps coming, does that mean the battery is kapoot?

I have read of these warnings coming intermittently, and could it also be a good battery not charging properly?
give it a good run, I'm sure you will anyway, but until you know for sure, avoid a situation where you might drain the battery when engine not running.

sorry to raise this question having now bought your 335 but generally to the audience what was the experience with the m sport 19" wheels which were apparently prone to cracking

was in the market for a 335i SE before and pulled out due to that. the 335i m sports just keep calling me esp the hard top convertible

but a cracked alloy seems to be a big show stopper... no garage / driveway currently - local alloy refurbishers always need 2/4 weeks notice / booking in period so I guess it would mean buying a spare and storing it but just seems a lot of hassle

and its those twin spoke 19s that for me make the car... the 18s just seem not to suit it

Try somewhere lke Exel Wheels who will loan you a set of wheels while they repair yours, it might be a bit more expensive but their service and quality was excellent.

Mine are 18" 193 style. They look nice.
I will be posting pictures soon. Let the weather clear up a bit.

In regards to the battery, thanks, i will see if it comes up after a long drive.

What do you guys think about warranties? Car came with 3 months from World of Warranty and they offered me upgrade to 12 months for £299. However I know and heard 3rd parties are a pain when it comes to the claim. What about BMW Warranty? It is around £700 tho (or monthly £72) with roadside and courtesy car.

I would chose a BMW warranty, when I read the terms of many third party providers they were never clear on what was covered. Mondial seem clear and tight.

However on your car, I think your BMW/Mondial warranty will be deemed a lapsed warranty, unless previous owner kept car under warranty and this means an excess of at least 100£ payable each time. Factor that in to your cost assessment.

Also, have you got all the details from the previous owner of what work has been done on this car? Plus, any advisories from MOT history. Get that first and you'll have a better understanding of your car.

You are right, the excess is £100 or can be £250. I think I will have the car for a year and see how it goes. Risk, but I do have the previous invoices and MOTs from previous owner. MOT had no advisory note and the invoices are up to do till march 14. The only thing might need replacing (from what i have seen on invoices) might be brake pads. But there is nothing on MOT so it might fly till next.

Get full MOT history, just in case prior advisories were missed. But I think you're onto a good thing, with a 1 owner car. good choice.

Brake pads wouldn't be covered on warranty, and ofcourse they should suffer wear and tear, it's a high performance car smile)

Congratulations on the new motor, enjoy it and I am looking forward to the pics, in many ways I should have gone 335i instead of 330i but I just thought the 335i might be a little thirsty if you enjoy the power but from what I have read they are about the same mpg wise.

So its a no brainer with the 335i...loads more shove and performance for the same running costs as the 330i so what`s not to like. smile

Thank you!

A quick question: I am looking at Aerokits on google and it looks tiny bit different to what i have. Does that mean M sport doesn't have Aerokit?

Edit: Ahh they are different kits. I thought M comes with aero. Aero looks more aggressive.
