Just acquired a 645 Coupe and neither front nor rear sensors operating. Other than checking fuses what might be the next step? What sort of lifespan can one expect from these sensors on a 10yr old car?
Anyone out there got a spare unwanted handbook and/or service book for sale.

turn the ignition on and then walk round the car (somewhere quiet) and put your ear right up to each sensor.

if you can hear a very faint rapid ticking, the sensor is working.

it may well be that one of the sensors has failed and that has put the whole system out of whack.

you can buy replacement sensors from ebay for a fraction of what they cost at a stealer. i've just bought 3 for my e38 7-series at £10.00 each. on the 7 they are also about a 30 second fit, but not sure how quick and easy it is on the 6.

try the listening part first as this will tell you whether the system is actually working or whether it is an issue further up the food chain.

Not an easy fit on the 6 as getting in behind the rear bumper is a pain; had to have my garage replace a reversing light when they were working on my rear ballpoints as I couldn't do it myself.

If both front and back aren't work it might be a fuse issue? Try id'ing the fuse and examine it would be my first thought.
