Watching this with interest as 640d GC is also on my list of possible next cars and the budget you're aiming for is roughly what I'd be looking to achieve. I've also been looking at the next size class up - there seem to be some tasty deals available on the 7 series and Audi A8.
As tempting as the 7 deals are, bear in mind that the F01/02 is due for imminent replacement

6GC is the deal to have imho, if you can get the big discount and 0%

Also in stock form I think the GC has the better interior IMO (or atleast it did when I bought mine), so its advisable to make sure its a like for like comparison).

The GC is a very practical car 4 up and I'd take it all day long against the 7. Unless you need to carry 5 regularly or put large objects in the boot (don't be fooled by its volume, the aperture and height restrict how much you can get in, i.e. two large suitcases can be difficult to get in there).

While the GC is only 2 years into its lifecycle, the coupe/vert are likely to get a facelift next year (released a year earlier) and so theres a possibility the GC may be done a year early or that facelift may date the GC a bit. I suspect (hope biggrin) they just make LED headlights standard, as my cars already got those biggrin

Basic car and 0%, Im reading others have achieved similar or better deals on cars with spec, generally showroom cars.

I think I'll call round another couple of dealers further a field.
I remember from the threads last year £20k+ was achievable, but I think it may have been on cars with significant spec rather then base cars.

I would definitely try dealers further afield. My best results were with Northern dealers. I managed to get a third off a pre-reg car, which had a spec of £80k. There was no 0% offer at the time, but this was just months after the model had been released, so was surprised by my success so early in the models life cycle. Moreover, my search was restricted by wanting some pricey options like HUD, I think I could have done better if i'd opened my search up to any car, regardless of spec.

Good luck

Waiting on a few dealers coming back, in the meantime one offered me a cancelled order 535d for 489 a month and that was before any squeeze.

What amazes me is the way BMW make us think we are getting a great bargain by setting up a seventy thousand pound car as a fifty thousand pound car.

It's fifty-thousand-pounds. 50 grand!

Exactly and the real kicker is they serve it up with that sty Dakota leather from a 320d and we still lap it up hehe

That is funny as my old M3/X5/Z4 all had Nappa yet the 640d has a more expensive list price than all of them yet only gets Dakota so a point very well made! biggrin

BMW Small fleet corporate support are offering 27% off list until end of December .

Use that figure as something to aim for.

Having owned an x5 and still own a z4, if they had Nappa, it was an upgrade.

I like a high list price anyway, keeps the number of company cars down and therefore keeps them special. I'm amazed new cars are realistically available new around 50k yet early cars getting on for 2 1/2 years old are still high 30's so only 15k depreciation in that time. Not many 50k cars do that

I thought Nappa was standard on my old X5 4.8iS and Z4M but it must have been an option then, I actually prefer Dakota because I know Nappa looks nice but it just doesn't wear very well with it being very soft whereas Dakota is a little more practical and harder wearing.

I did think that but jon`s post threw me a little and its standard on the Z4M too, I remember you`re old one from photos biggrin I strangely still miss mine a fair bit but I do agree in essence it is a totally pointless motor but I did love its feel good factor.

Yep, totally pointless aside from the V8 noise!

One of those cars I'm glad I had but have no desire to revisit.

Ah.. It might have been on the top end cars like the ones you had, I had a x5 40d m sport and the wife has the e89 z4 35i - nether come with Nappa. The x5 cost more than my 6gc and lost more in depreciation frown

I looked at a 730d as they were on offer and even those have Dakota leather it really is horrible stuff.

My 335d xdrive has it and I won't be getting a car with it again, IIRC only the M cars get nappa as standard.

I can relate to that because I have never lost as much money on any car like I did with my X5 and I am an expert at losing money on cars! but for some reason I still really like the X5 a lot.

I would imagine the X5 40d to be a really great package.

It's been a while since I visited any BMW dealers, bit called in on a couple last weekend to see what was on offer. I happen to say to my wife that the leather inside the 6 series coupes seems to have changed, however it was not until reading this thread that I realised it was Dakota, I am sure going back a couple of years this was not the case. I checked the BMW configuration and all BMW models with the exception of the M cars and the X3 seem to get Dakota as standard, with the X3 it gets Nevada, although I don't know what the difference in quality is between Nevada and Dakota.

I suppose we should be grateful it's actually leather and not the synthetic stuff found in some Mercedes models, although I do get the impression that BMW seem to be cutting back on the quality of the leather in the more expensive models.

Dakota has it's place, hard wearing and very family friendly but would expect something better in a 6.

Rather apprehensively have to admit I prefer Dakota :/ so am glad you can get it in the 6. Even if they made Nappa a deletable standard spec, you'd never get Dakota as very few would dare to delete the Nappa. I'd rather things like comfort access (for the kick to open trunk), LED headlights (which the CLS sport has), split folding rear seats (which BMW often make an option), etc were standard. To be honest there aren't too many glaring omissions on the 6ers standard equipment list, nor should there be at its RRP.
