E46 320d pre cat

Lads a quick question. I was asked if I was to remove a pre cat on a 2002 320d and just weld in a straight pipe without mapping the car will I have issues, turbo run away, spool issues or limp mode etc ? On already mapped cars I know it's not usually an issue but I'm not sure if limiters are built into the map. So on a standard car is this ok or advise a map
