Hi all

Just after a bit of advice here re winter tyres for a 535d-car is on 245/40/18-can I get winter tyres in this size or should I be getting a 17" inch alloy set from eBay-assuming these would fit and getting winters tyres for that?

All feedback appreciated.

Just need to pick your tyres, (and TPMS if fitted)

Check to see what size winter tyres are recommended for your 535D. It'll either be on the driver's side B pillar or inside the fuel cap.

There's plenty of used BMW wheels on eBay, just make sure you get the offset near enough.

I run 245 40 18 winters on my F11 530d and they work brilliantly. Bought mine from BMW as a complete spare set to save hassle. They are not as good in mild conditions but light years ahead when it turns nasty.

The sticker inside the driver's door won't take account of factory fitted options such as upgraded brakes with the M Sport Plus pack, so don't rely on it.

My 335d M Sport with MS+ pack lists the correct pressures and sizes for 17" winter wheels as well as 18,19,20", yet the 17" wheels are too small to fit over the brake calipers.

A call to your local BMW dealer Parts dept should give you a definitive answer from your chassis number.

Oops, mine are 245/45 18. Yours should be too. 245/40 is the profile for 19s

Good point, 17s won't fit my 328i with blue M Sport brakes.

Great place to get a pair of winter wheels - http://www.bmautosport.co.uk

I bought mine from here last year after being scammed (twice) on eBay whilst trying to buy a refurbed set.

Plenty of choice on tyres (check your size though as there seems to be 2 different sizes mentioned)

I had the vredsteins on my x5 and couldn't fault them - a little over 500 for a set for your car
