Are all E83 X3's 4x4?

Guys,

Potentially looking for a 2007-2009 X3 2.0D Auto. I know the new X3 can be found in X-drive or S-drive, but is it safe to assume the earlier models are 4x4?

Any advice on the 2.0D auto? Decent enough? What sort of mpg could we expect, commute will be 16 miles each way, 70% A roads, rest in the city.

I believe they were all xdrive

Neighbour has one .. He gets about 38 -40 mpg out of his. ( so he tells me)

The ride in it is a bit wooden ... And size wise it's about the same as an X1 which rides much better, is available as an sdrive and gives much better mpg
