Hi all,

We have a 60k mile 3.0d pre-Lci 2007 e70 X5 and it's been utterly brilliant as a family wagon, however all of a sudden the car has started going for a lower gear than it always used to on roads I've driven on for years

E.g on a slight incline it goes for 2nd as opposed to cruising up in 3rd

This makes for a clumsy driving experience and is frankly annoying. It's also started holding into 2nd for what feels like an eternity when cold, however I go and floor it, frankly it feels perfectly spritely for its size etc

It has BMW auc warranty until early feb and want to take advantage of this, any suggestions as to what I can point at to ensure it's healthy? (E.g I'm nervous about inlet flaps, dpf etc - it's already had a new gear selector...)

Cheers

Chris

As it is under warranty, take it to BMW and let them diagnose it properly. It could be anything from vacuum lines, to EGR valve, etc but that is guess work.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Not really much help - but I've noticed the same thing in mine over the past month or so . It's booked to be seen by BMW in mid December.

If performance is otherwise normal I would be checking gearbox fluid levels. Had same symptoms on my e61 when sump started leaking and fluid level got low.
