Hi All - just about to order a 435d M-Sport Coupe and not sure whether to add the adaptive suspension or not.

Reading mixed reviews in the motoring press, has anyone had any experience or recommend/ not recommend?

Going for the Sport +, in Mineral Grey, Oyster Interior, Professional Nav.

Any other thoughts good or bad would also be welcomed!

Many thanks.

I test drove a 435d M Sport xDrive with AS, 19s with RFTs and I was genuinely surprised at how comfortable it was. I know people say that it's bit squidgy when you start to throw it around but then I wouldn't buy one to throw around, I'd buy something else. Do it.

I would get the adaptive suspension as your Msport will come with SE suspension as standard otherwise and it doesn't make for a sporty car, fine on the 3er touring but not the 4er.

We were looking at chopping in wifies z4 for a new z4 and it would have been mineral grey with red leather.

I thought the point of an M Sport was to have M Sport suspension? Has this changed on newer models?

You can only get the 435d in an xDrive suspension, which sits 15mm higher than M Sport Suspension; so basically SE setup. As a result, adaptive could be worth a shout.

For me, standard suspension is fine. If anything, it just looks to ride a little high, but that's only when parked to an M Sport non xDrive. Otherwise, it looks fine.

I think BMW have got it wrong with the ride height and Msport suspension omission on the Xdrive models.

They do unless xdrive and the 435d only comes with xdrive.

That is pretty poor in my opinion - why call it an m sport if it has basic suspension.....I wonder how many people who ordered one didn't figure that out.

I quite liked the red leather seats but couldn't live with the red lower dash and door cards and don't really like the Dakar leather so I have gone for mineral grey with golden brown merino leather. Just need it to be delivered now!

Well, at my local dealership neither the new car salesman nor the so-called "Product Genius" (who on earth thought of that job title?!) realised that X-Drives come with SE suspension even when ordered as an M-Sport. The salesman was adamant I was wrong and it was only when I suggested I'd pay full retail price if he was right but he should give me a 50% discount if he was wrong did he decide to check the detail in the brochure. However, if some of the people selling these cars for a living don't know it's fair to assume that many buyers are also unaware; they'll probably realise the first time they go quickly over a twisty and/or undulating road but a bit late then! Fortunately it appears there are decent and reasonably priced after-market solutions for those that find the SE set-up a bit soft but IMO it's pretty poor that these cars don't leave the factory with a properly sorted passive suspension as standard.

My F31 is mineral grey with oyster and I reckon the combination works really well. I wouldn't have a red leather interior if you paid me but it really is each to their own with these things; some people love Estoril with red leather, I think it looks awful!

Adaptive all the way with 435 M. Maybe standard suspension with an SE, modern or luxury.

Also front heated seats is a must.

The visibility package is cool as well. Driving behind a car tonight, the main beam splits either side - that alone will keep me amused for hours hehe

The merino leather seats and dash in beige or oyster are worth considering - bridge too far me at £2k extra over Dakota.

Really appreciate the comments folks, seems like the adaptive suspension is must!

Loads of support for the red leather..... it must be a marmite thing.... I am not a fan at all!

Going to order today with the above spec.... would love to upgrade the interior, but also out of reach unfortunately!

Cheers guys!

Good man, don't think you'll be disappointed with the oyster interior (I think it's much classier than the default black and suffice to say I share your sentiments on red!). Adaptive is also a very sensible option IMO; given the price of a 435d the extra cost is peanuts in the grand scheme of things and the standard SE suspension is a bit soft if you want to press on (or at least it is for my taste).
